Anyone have stats on the seats that have flipped since Tuesday night? Of the ones that have flipped, which were suspicious?
According to the New York times website, the Democrats have now gained 32 seats in the House and 10 seats are still being counted. The Republicans have narrow leads ranging from .4 to 1.4%. What are the odds that some/all of these will go to the Democrats?
Explain to me how Social Security contributes to the current deficit
I missed that, my bad.
That is indeed more practical, but I still think the validation of citizenship can and should be done behind the scenes. It’s still impractical to have to show proof of citizenship when registering to vote.
I’m already a citizen - why do I need to prove it to a fully computerized system, unless I find some fault with it and needs correcting?
Do you submit your passport or birth certificate when applying for work? No your SSN suffices and employers can verify it through that and an ID.
Why force it only for voter registration?
For example in 2017, SS benefit payments totaled $952 billion. SS payroll tax contributions totaled less than that, $873 billion.
Every person has a birth certificate, or if missing that it can be retrieved from county records. Anyone who is old and has been living here for 25 years or more and speaks with American accents can be exempt.
When entering the country at Canadian border, the officer asks you a question or two, and if you speak fluently with American accent, they will wave you on. My wife is American born and raised, and they never ask her for proof of citizenship, but I have a foreign accent and they usually ask to see my passport.
In my opinion right to vote is of paramount important in a democracy. We must take it seriously. Requiring proof of citizenship before registering to vote is not a big burden.
Bravo FreeReign, excellent post! I bet 90% of American adults do not know what you said there.
I thought there was plenty of cash in algore’s lockbox.
Ok, but last year Soc Sec ran a yearly surplus in the tens of billions of dollars, and its total reserves - the combined annual surpluses - are in the trillions. Trouble is, Mitch and Co have been spending those surpluses on general govt programs, so they wouldn’t have to cut the federal budget Instead of giving the money back in promised benefits for the people who paid those Social Security taxes, Mitch and company want to cut Soc Sec
Alford never got Congress to create a lockbox. They’ve spent all the Social Security surpluses on other government programs. And now they want to cut Social Security .
“This is ridiculous. Ill never vote again.”
So you want to reward the Democrats then? They can’t steel elections unless they are close. We need more R votes, not less.
Horse, barndoor, duh ... can anyone name a single seat that was EVER overtaken from D to R AFTER the voting day by found ballots? Just one ...
We need to demand Voter ID and go to the Supreme Court to get it.
Silly to audit.
My prediction of House D +40, Senate R +4 is looking pretty good right now.
Democrats are dead souls. They do not see any wrong in adding a few ballots to push a close race into the D column. Rule of law means NOTHING to demonrats.
Social Security used to run surplus for decades, but then when the economic growth was small, job growth was small, but people retiring never slows down. So then SS began a string of years where outgo was bigger than inflow.
Don’t be fooled by figures from Motley Fool. That $85 Billion interest is a phony number, because it is not from external investments, but simply what the federals owe social security, and it is only on paper. Because the federals have used past surpluses of SS to spend, on paper they owe money to SS for interest. But as everyone knows there is no lock box for SS funds. It is like money going from your left pocket to the right pocket. So in reality there was a deficit in real money coming in by (85-44)=$41 Billion.
In 2017 the economy was humming and created lot of new jobs, which expanded tax money inflow, and temporarily shrank the SS deficit. Next time economy slows the deficit will be bigger.
point is, they’ve been spending Social Security tax proceeds in general government programs. That’s why it’s “ in the red,”. Not because the benefits are too high
in private sector they’d call that embezzlement
The counting of ballots should have ended Wednesday.
The number of ballots should be known.
Not so in PB and Broward. Two of sixty seven counties.
Athens TN redux?

Benefits CURRENTLY exceeds tax collected on social security.
Therefore we are going in debt to pay the SS benefits.
But it is also absolutely correct that the government has used all the previous years surplus social security money for federal spending.
If the SS was operated as a private enterprise, it would now still be in surplus. That is what Chile in S. America has done and retirees have benefited.
Impossible to happen. Because the fake votes are never assigned to republicans.
But I blame the entire election fiasco on republican elected leaders. They could have fixed the system making it harder to cheat. There were some years in past when republicans ruled both houses of congress and WH. They did nothing.
Why blame the burglar if you sleep with doors unlocked?
Not for nothing last I saw that evening the NJ Senate seat was called for Menendez with just under 12% counted, and he was down 50%-46% or something like that at that early time. Is there somewhere we can find out the final numbers, district may be tough but at least by county?
