Brooklyn students hold walkout in protest of Facebook-designed online program

Brooklyn teens are protesting their high school’s adoption of an online program spawned by Facebook, saying it forces them to stare at computers for hours and “teach ourselves.”

Nearly 100 students walked out of classes at the Secondary School for Journalism in Park Slope last week in revolt against “Summit Learning,” a web-based curriculum designed by Facebook engineers, and bankrolled by CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Amy Chan.

Just when you thought that the NYC school system had hit bottom, they surprise you with yet another, even lower level of educational neglect and deficiency. NYC has conducted a draconian campaign, starting with the accursed Bloombutt, to ouster veteran teachers from the system by nefarious means. They deliberately assigned them the worst students in their classes, gave fabricated ratings of "Unsatisfactory" for perfectly good lessons, encouraged students to hand in statements of teacher misdeeds which had never happened, careful to coach them on what buzzwords to include: "inappropriate", "touched me", "sexual"--and when students were later asked what half the words in their statements even meant, all you got was a blank stare. These completely made up statements of things the teacher never even said or did then formed the basis for kangaroo court "hearings" which often ended in the teacher being terminated. Ding! Another expensive tenured teacher off the payroll, their life in tatters on the basis of students lying their rear ends off. To be replaced by a totally clueless newbie right out of college, for half the salary and not being tenured.

Teachers are afraid not to pass virtually every student in their classes for fear of getting a poor rating and/or being brought up on fake charges and students know it--so why put in any effort? This is the massive fraud being perpetuated on NYC schoolkids and their parents now. It has become the culture that you don't have to attend classes or do any work and the teacher MUST pass you anyway. How ludicrous is this---it is the TEACHER who gets into trouble if the STUDENT cuts class, does no work, passes no tests or acts out in class.

And now this--allowing a hard leftist who has proven themselves to be an enemy of the United States to author computer programs used to teach the NYC students, and that's all the "education" they get. No discussions, no hands-on activities, no labs, no alternative points of view presented. Whoever decided to put this practice into place should be in JAIL, just as much as Ms. Snipes, who perpetuated the massive voter fraud in Florida. This is like something out of a science fiction movie of the future, with commie indoctrination of the young as they are forced to sit in front of computers, mindlessly absorbing the desired Message.

I applaud the kids for protesting this horrific abuse of the sacred trust of educating our kids. Yet another reason to jail DumblASSio and his new commie leftist SJW "schools chancellor" Carranza.

I'm surprised the students are so savvy. Good for them.

Being forced to look at Zuckerberg's bullsh*t screen for hours on end is pure garbage.

Los Angeles isn’t much better, although we haven’t yet seen the deliberate elimination of teachers with seniority yet. I’m on my 15th year, so I’d probably be in the crosshairs. But there is definitely pressure to pass as many kids as possible, no matter how inept and uncooperative they are, and now that they have put all the Special Ed kids into the regular classrooms (ALL of them) it’s getting harder and harder.

It was ironic that the young man in the Play Station t-shirt said he didn’t want to spend time working on a computer.

Today’s public schools are mostly multicultural indoctrination camps for children from dysfunctional/poor families. It’s my experience that anyone with a buck sends their kids to pvt school, even if it means sacrifice. Home school seems to be a wonderful option.
