A group advocating to rename Faneuil Hall because of its namesake's ties to slavery will re-enact a slave auction outside the historic downtown building this weekend.
The New Democracy Coalition says Saturday's event is designed to call attention to Boston's history of slavery.
The building known as the Cradle of Liberty is named after Peter Faneuil, a wealthy 18th century slave owner who financed construction as a gift to the city.

Well then let’s start moving federal gov’t offices out Virginia. To a “Free State”, say, Nebraska...
Columbia - after Columbus - who was another white racist exploiter of the native population.
At risk? Too late! They’ve been scrubbed!
Take a walk stop when you find one person who knows about it. I bet you’ll walk all day!
You realize slavery was outlawed in MA in the late 1700s, right. Might have been a financial hub, but the slaves were freed pretty early in your timeline.
One of my political science teachers in college recalled when he was in college back in the early ‘70s that he was in a biology class, and the instructor needed a male volunteer to take off his shirt to describe physiology. A healthy, young black man volunteered, and after he was elevated and the teacher used his pointing stick to point out a muscle group, my teacher’s friend couldn’t hold back and shouted “I BID $50!”. Even then it was shocking, but also taken as funny. These days being thrown out of school would just have been the beginning of his problems.
I do think it would be hilarious to insert a group of pranksters to offer unexpected bids.
“Are they guaranteed to vote for Democrats?”
“Will they kneel during the national anthem?”
“Will the females kill their own babies?”
“If Republicans emancipate them, will they come crawling back to their former Democrat owners?”
Will this be like a car auction sight or is it buy “as is”?
And who pays movers’ fees?
A ridiculous situation deserves a ridiculous reply.
'The liberal media and pols were thrilled when the SJWs were targeting statutes in the south. Now that they are being eaten by the very mob they created, we need to learn from our history not erase it. Lol.'To be eaten by the very mob one created is the story of violent revolutions.
It's no comfort to the wise and benevolent, but watching the so-called "journalists" of the news media jump verbally to Tucker Carlson's defense brought Robespierre to mind.
If they had studied history while in college and had actually learned from the teachings of college, instead of allowing themselves to be brainwashed and stupefied into groupthink, they might have learned the warnings of history and used this wisdom to warn the people whom they supposedly serve, but, if they were intelligent and wise enough to do that, they wouldn't be part of the propaganda machine in the first place.
Oh I wish these people would get a life.
Protest what is going on today in the slave trade in sub Saharan Africa and the Middle East.

Easy. It was a gift with the name as a commemoration. Want to change the name? tear down the building.
There is also a Faneuil St.,a Faneuil Square, and a Faneuil Branch of the Boston Public Library.

Do not let anyone dissuade you from this powerful study of slavery. If it can happen, it will happen. Anything you can imagine, and many things you could never imagine--somebody would do, will do, and has probably done.
Make no mistake: Slavery is one of the most hideous evils ever devised by man or the devil. It is alive and thriving in the world today--in the 21st century.
Americans can be proud that their nation outlawed this evil more than a century and a half ago.
In fact Western Civilization outlawed this evil. Some cultures have never outlawed or ended it.
It is true that in the first decades of the 20th century, slavery still existed in some parts of Europe. You could have bought there a man, woman, or child and done with him/her whatever you wanted... There were people who did.
This is the evil that the USA and the rest of Western Civilization outlawed and ended within their jurisdiction and as thoroughly as they could.
To fight this evil today, contact the American Anti-Slavery Group: http://www.iabolish.org I have been a member for years.
There is a dark side to human nature. To deny it is to enable it. To control it, laws have been devised. These laws, inscribed in the US Constitution, have protected Americans for many years.
It is these very laws that ended slavery, institutionalized racism, and a host of other evils in the USA.
We live either by the law or by the law of the jungle.
Today, the rule of law is under siege by the American Left.
President Trump insists that we be ruled by law. This is both wise and benevolent.
He has been attacked for this stance by the violent Left, which shows signs of invoking instead the law of the jungle.
The rule of law must prevail.
President Trump is to be praised, commended, and supported for his position and for having the courage and benevolence to stand up for the rule of law and against the dark side of human nature.
Prayer helped end slavery, institutionalized racism, and many other evils in the USA. Pray that President Trump will succeed in ending the evils that plague America today, not the least of which is contempt for truth and assault on law.
Yeah slavery was grandfathered out fairly early in some of those states.....but that sure as hell did not stop them from slave trading. Everybody knew it too. They were all too willing to keep pocketing enormous amounts of blood money well well into the mid 19th century.
They supplied the ships and the financing and the crews and everything else for those ships to sail to Africa, pick up slaves, then sell them off mostly in the Caribbean and Brazil.
