....Counties that haven’t voted for a Democrat in decades turned out for Beto O’Rourke in his unsuccessful bid to unseat U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, and he picked up enough support in ruby red Republican counties to force Cruz into single-digit wins. ... Tuesday night's results suggest that the Republican firewall in the suburbs could be cracking....

You are actually pretty much spot-on. As have more Western states been shifting from red, to purple, to ever-more blue because of the escaped Left-wing Californians... they have infiltrated Texas - beginning in more liberal strongholds like Austin and Houston, and are now overflowing into the suburban areas (in the process, they are buying up property and trying to change customs, laws, and practices of the freedom-loving Texans.

If the Republicans lose the suburbs-—Tarrant County, TX, Morris County, NJ.....it’s over.

And Dallas County use to be far more “red”... but again, liberals have moved in and changed everything...

For a long time now I’ve been of the opinion that prospective residents from ‘certain’ areas of the country need to take a Texan admission test.

If they fail after three times (like the driving test) we give them enough gas money to keep them moving out of Texas in the direction they were headed when they breached our borders.

It is coming. I just don’t see any way around it. Texas schools are ruled from Austin... the liberal capital of what USE to be one of the most Conservative, freedom-loving states in the Union.

It all started with "Robin Hood" and "No Child Left Behind"

I was more dismayed by how many votes Lupe Valdez got. It should have been 80-20.

her margin can be explained with tribal voting and the Obama Effect: a historic opportunity to elect a politically correct "first". In this case, a chance for Hispanics to turn out and elect the first Latina governor of Texas.

I see the suburbs trending back and forth but it is the white suburban WOMEN who will be the face of the Left.

And a Lesbo, to boot.

Yes. It was always very fiscally conservative. And traditional.

The state began shifting Republican in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. The reality of the political change in the Dem party became apparent to even the slow learners in the 1970’s. The local POLs resisted it, some better than others.

The Commies are now out of the closet trying to push you in. Even the slow learners can see it now.

In the ‘Preview of Coming Attractions’ Department:

Colorado used to be about as good a place to live as you could ever hope to find. (They did take a bit of umbrage to all those Texas license plates in the ski lodge parking lots, though.)
But now a days, you take your life in your hands on any Colorado road because of all the spaced out, drugged up drivers.

100% correct.
I used to tell folks that the democrats in Texas were MUCH more conservative than the Republicans in New England.

That is it in a nutshell.

All the blame lies at the feet of all these Southern Governors, who were tripping over themselves to lure corporate America to their states for all the high paying jobs. Especially the, corporate headquarter and tech type jobs.

They promised Texans, Georgians, Floridians, Tennesseans, South Carolinan’s all sorts of high paying jobs.

They promised corporate America tax breaks, newer schools, lower property taxes, no sales taxes, bigger & newer homes for far less, better weather, new soccer fields and ball fields for their kids. They promised them the world. Only thing, all their employees moved with the company. A few of the locals got some jobs. But what did the transplants do?

They brought all their liberal, Democratic BULLSH*T with them. They think they’re better than everyone because they’ve convinced themselves that they are far more enlightened than anyone else. Those folks will never be Texans, et al. They’ll forever be carpetbaggeers that will never embrace, The ???? Way of Life.

Want a prime example, look at what happened during ‘Snowmaggedon’ in Georgia a few years ago. And now the Cajun Navy. Everyone likes making fun of rednecks, until you need one.

I am a carpetbagger. Moved to Georgia from NY, in 95. Fell in love with the place. Would never think of going back. When I just look at the gun laws, it makes me sick to know that they very same people that have allowed such disastrous gun laws to be enacted in NY are now flooding Georgia at an alarming rate. I can go into a Walmart and buy any box of ammo I want. In NY, I have to show a handgun permit, with the pistols, w/ serial numbers, and can only buy ammo for what is listed on the permit. And the permitting process is a completely other disaster, in and of itself.

It’s a shame we can’t make them pass a test before they move in or restrict their ability to vote for a few years.

When Senator Phil Gramm switched to Republican, he didn’t even have to change the way he knotted his ties or say grace before meals.
