I don’t know. Nowadays, I think this type of woman is right. An expensive ring is more of a guarantee.

I was the economical type who insisted I didn’t need a ring at all. So then, years later, after the divorce (yeah), I had nothing to pawn.

The pawn or resale value of jewelry is minimal, anyway. I have a very nice set of Mikimoto pearls that my mother gave me when she wanted an even better one (and my cousin’s ship was going to WestPac), and they’re worth only about $700 as a resale.
