A woman who found her engagement ring before her boyfriend proposed complained about the 'basic' band on social media - and the internet is not happy.
'Ewwwww. Self shame Friday here I come. Found this in the BF's nightstand. Not a fan,' the woman wrote in a Facebook group.
'Please roast and then tell me how to tactfully say no you need to go get something different,' she added.

Yeah...because marriage isn’t a covenant between man, woman and God or a lifetime commitment. It’s all about the crap you get upfront.
RUN AWAY AND RUN AWAY FAST
He should tell her “Sorry, it wasn’t for you”.
On her Facebook. After he’s already changed all the locks on his apartment and dumped her stuff in the lobby.
Dont jump too quickly. Protect yourself. BF. Sounds like this female might be a long term problem. You need a plan.
Premarital sex is a curse, not a blessing

I think the ring is beautiful. And he must not be on Facebook or he wouldve already seen her post. He should run.......most women would be happy with the ring he chose.
I agree, but if this couple believed that, they would not be in a situation that allowed her to search his bedside table and find the ring.
The DeBeers people are almost saying what they really mean. You remember the old DeBeers slogan, “Diamonds are forever.” Then they changed it to “This year, take her breath away.” The new slogan is “Diamonds. Render her speechless.” Why don’t they just come out and say it: “Diamonds. That’ll shut her up.........for a minute”

Maybe so,but it’s been around forever.
.
And Narcissism. What did she do upon discovering the ring? Kvetch to the entirety of the internet. “Oh, look at the icky ring that my Boyfriend bought. Oh, woe is ME.”
How did she know that was for her?
“Premarital sex is a curse, not a blessing”
That’s a little harsh.
At least add “fun”. :-)
Shes fat too. Look at that hammock of a thumb.
Entitled fat chicks. If that doesnt scream Millenial, I dont know what does.
I am sure there are dudes just lining up outside your door with rings. What a see you next Tuesday.
Publicly insulting your prospective would be husband should suggest to said candidate what his future holds if he follows through. Lack of respect will either doom him to misery or a short marriage.
If I was the boyfriend I would tell her...
“It wasn’t for you, have a good life.”
ok, I clicked to see the ring and I don’t see what her problem is with this starter ring. The diamonds are sizeable, i.e., not chips by any means, and any working or stay-home woman knows that an ornate band is hell to work in - prongs snag and catch on things, scratch babies, and are just uncomfortable on the side of the finger when typing. Which is why married women usually select a plain band ring for every day and keep their engagement and wedding rings for special occasions.
And, she’s forgetting ring tradition - rings always start small and after five years of marriage, upgrade. Another five years, upgrade again. Which is why women who have been married for 20 or 30 years, have more time invested in marriage and have more disposable income, have larger diamonds and more ornate rings. And women who are unproven marriage newbies, with a 50% chance of divorce within 3 years, have starter rings.
Under the “tradition” I was raised under,
the very act of having sex marries the couple,
the ritual and oaths are window dressing
Subsequently one is VERY careful who they have sex with,
for one is forever afterward “One Flesh”
We are the same. Spending money on stupid stuff is well... stupid. We dont even exchange gifts on birthdays or valentines. Just a card or flowers and a nice dinner out. Instead of over priced crap. Instead, I give her a new Krugerrand for our collection each year.
That’s what I think too.
