Sorry, iOS is a no-go for anything CLOSE to serious work:

• No filesystem so you can organize, track, archive, and backup your project data the way YOU want it;
• No ability to add software other than through the walled garden;
• iOS device are modeled after a reader / casual checklist at best user interaction model;
• not suitable for hours-at-a-time work;
• screensize is very limited;

What were the tasks used for the benchmark testing? Every computer does some things faster than others, but is also slower about other things than others. For instance, I'm sure it surprises no one that Microsoft's Visual Studio runs better on Windows 10 than any Apple OS (it doesn't run at all on Apple).

I didn't see anywhere in the article anything about processor speed, the # of cores in the processor (multi-tasking), the clock speed of RAM, nor the transfer rate to long-term storage. In other words I read a lot of sizzle and no substance.

I guess sizzle is all that's needed to sell Apple products.

This is impressive for Apple but mostly a meaningless statement even from Tom’s List. 92% of PCs are outdated or discount PCs. An 8th generation Intel Core I5 laptop typically benchmarks in the 13,000 range using Geekbench 4. We bought two of them last year for $600 a piece from Costco with 17” touchscreens and discreet GPU’s.

After Microsoft screwed me on a Nokia rt I won’t buy another surface. Had terrible ghost gesture problems an MS never fixed or exchanged it. Will go Linux or mac.

It's ok, I'm sure your Lord-and-Gods of Apple can afford all the advertising they want and the iZombies are a loyal lot.

I waited for today to see if my Apple store would have stock of what I wanted. Yes! I’m so excited! They’ve pulled 12.9” iPad Pro, silver, 512GB, Apple Pencil, the keyboard and I tossed in Apple Care. I decided to pick them up tomorrow so it won’t be quite as busy. I am pumped! Been waiting a long time to upgrade my iPad. ;)))))
