Victor Borge once determined that our spoken word lacked the clarity of written prose, and suggested this remedy to help us get our message across verbally.

I was always partial to his “Inflationary Language.” ;-)
Yes, that’s a fivegone conclusion.
Brilliant comedian.
That one still makes me laugh.
Brilliant.
When I was much younger I had the privilege to watch him do it in person. Still laugh and enjoy it.
Memories from my childhood,quality humor
Thanks for nice departure from the political.
Resisting Sunday afternoon before the election anxiety!
first saw this on The Electric Company
Pretty good piano player, too.
My favourite Victor Borge line was the letter from the French hotel keeper describing, in less than perfect English, the charms of his ‘otel: “a French Widow in every bedroom”.
I liked his, “adding one to wherever a number appears in a sentence” better than phonetic punctuation.
For example: Twice uptwo a time my friend and I went to play eleveniss. Classic! ;-)
Oops, just checked, the French Widows were from Gerard Hoffnung’s “Letters from Tyrolean Landlords”!
I saw him live at the Mosque (what the venue was called then...) in Richmond, VA in the early 80s. Brilliant performer.
A very clever stand-up bit, he was ahead of his times....
See post #5.
So nice to see you after all these years. :)
Never saw it before! Thanks for posting. That his hilarious!
But, is it REALLY comedy? There are no f-bombs. How can it possibly be funny without f-bombs?
My favorite one was after LBJ picked up his dog’s ears during an interview, Victor said during one of his shows that LBJ came back stage, picked him up by his ears and told him he was a Great Dane.
