I’m not sure I agree with Carville on the Nelson part. Incumbency is a powerful staying force. Trump won FL in 2016 by 100,000 points, but IIRC Rubio got elected by 700,000. We should expect incumbents to stay as a general rule. That’s why I predict relatively few Senate flips compared to others (but also relatively few House flips).
I read it as Carville saying if Nelson doesn’t win, that Democrats should turn out the lights — the party is over. Essentially rating the incumbent advantage as you do and calling a flip there in the east a bell weather indication of a bad night for Democrats.

Actually it is indicative for a very odd reason. With rare exceptions most polls are political and not legitimate. They poll to achieve a political objective of influence on the electorate.
When Florida comes in, if they are radically wrong on their predictions they will be radically wrong in the predictions on other states.
Election night 2016 I thought I was attending a funeral for Donald Trump. When Florida came in and the pollsters were radically wrong I realized their polls for other states using the same methodology were Bull S--t also. I then had hope. Then Iowa and Ohio in the bag followed by Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania and the game was over.
It should also be noted that Hillary Clinton's campaign canceled the great fireworks display on the East River a few days before the election. They had real polls that are private and cost big bucks. They knew.
Mark Giffords (nee Kelly) actually was an astronaut and he is an asswipe.

I always take the Wednesday after Election Day off, either to mourn or rejoice.
I have worked for Scott’s campaign and am thinking we have a good chance. Nelson is 112 years old. It’s time the old lefty retires.

Some of them break bad...who knows why. McCain and George McGovern come to mind.

McCain was corrupt and consumed by avarice, ego and power. McGovern was liberal when it was the honorable opposition but patriotic. I have far more respect for McGovern than McCain. In fact I have no respect for McCain.
McGovern loved our great nation though I think he was politically wrong. I do not know what McCain really was.

I think McCain was a game player who got off on getting over on people and playing them against each other. Maybe from his POW years.
If voter fraud fails in Florida, it's going to indicate poor showings in other districts.

As annoying as Carville is, he is smart about this stuff, as The War Room demonstrated. They were celebrating in 1992 by 11am after his “key areas” exit polls came into HQ
I pray Nelson goes down and he is proven right
