Bill Mitchell was great on our Presidential election night.

I understand!
With RSD, the simplest way to say what it does, is that it
(the brain) keeps sending pain signals to my knee for NO REASON)
But what happens is my knee gets red/swoolen/painful, as though there WERE an injury.

The pain has NOT let up since my last knee surgery in 2010.
I have been suffering with this for 8 years now.
It’s been a tough road, and some Docs thought I was drug seeking/ wanting attention/all in my head, etc.

My knee surgeon is the one that FINALLY put a name to it.

I have tried medicine that made me , sleep, zombied out and so on. One doc in particular I loathed.
You know the type-new age “airy fairy” garbage.
He was rude, abrupt, condescending and arrogant.

He wanted to take my meds away from me, and to “just take Ibuprofen (Advil) and come to his Yoga studio every day, and practice Yoga.
He wanted to “teach” my brain to change the way in interprets pain.

This would involve a 60 mile (round trip) to Portland in rush hour traffic.I went home and looked up this nutball, and sure enough, he’s been telling everybody to do this for YEARS.

One persons review of him said “Stay away from him, he would ruin your life.”

Don’t misunderstand-I think yoga is awesome and great for people, but it isn’t going to change the wonky pain signals that the brain is sending.
The last time I saw this jerk, I noticed that my hands were up, as though I wanted to push him away, because he was making me feel defensive.

I told him I was no longer interested in maintaining a doctor-patient relationship with him.
I said “You are arrogant, abrupt and rude. Look at my hands! They are in front of me like this because of YOU!
“I will NOT be badgered like this by you or anybody else.”
How can you sit there, and make me feel like this , and tell me that it’s good for me!!?”
I’m outta here!”

Finally, my PCP and I have worked out a good regimen for pain. There are flare ups and daily pain, but with the medicine I take it is at least bearable.

I hope that this long post is not too much, but it feels good to be able to share it with someone who understand what it is like.
