(Alabama) Tide Defense Powers Team To Victory, Shuts Out LSU At Tiger Stadium (Score 29-0)
Touchdown Alabama Magazine ^ | 11-3-3018 | Steven M Miller

Posted on 11/03/2018 9:13:22 PM PDT by blam

LSU asked for all the smoke, and boy did it get it.

Alabama rendered the Tigers’ pedestrian offense scoreless, while allowing it to total 196 yards on 60 plays from scrimmage. Quarterback Joe Burrow was in fear for his life all game long, especially with Quinnen Williams, Isaiah Buggs, Christian Miller and Anfernee Jennings in his face.

He was sacked five times, with two of them coming via Williams.

With quite a few National Football League scouts in attendance at Tiger Stadium, the Birmingham native is looking like a concrete first-round pick for next year’s draft.

Williams, a redshirt sophomore, is now at four sacks and 12 tackles for loss (team-high) through nine regular season games. He led the Crimson Tide’s charge in tackles with 10, while Dylan Moses finished with six stops – including a shared tackle for loss. The duo of cornerbacks Saivion Smith and Shyheim Carter came up huge for Alabama, as both had five tackles each.

In his return to Death Valley, Smith recorded two pass breakups.

Despite him not recording a sack of Burrow, junior defensive end Raekown Davis constantly brought pressure and was one of three players to have at least four tackles. Junior inside linebacker Mack Wilson, who suffered an injury last year against the Tigers, posted four tackles and sealed the game with an interception.

While its offense generated 576 yards, the Tide’s defense proved it is still college football’s gold standard.

Alabama will return home next week for the first time in a month to face Mississippi State, following its 29-0 win over the Tigers.

LSU played a better defensive game than I expected.

Saban said after the game that the injuries didn't look serious, Ruggs and Najee Harris.

Kind of sad when Bama’s 1st true test was effectively over in the 1st half.

However, Bama still has to get by:

1. Auburn (the Iron bowl is never a gimme)
2. Georgia (they are really hurting for revenge). But even if GA wins Bama could still make the CFP.
3. Clemson. (nothing but respect to them).
4. Sorry ND, if you face the Tide expect the same as last time.

The democrats issued a statement that the LSU loss was a planned part of the blue wave and not to be concerned.

They need to play Temple and Louisville like real teams do. They played Louisville? Well they didn’t run up eighty points on them like real teams do, so Bama sucks bad and doesn’t play a championship schedule like Central Florida.

So those other teams are really impressive and are clearly better than Alabama.

Alabama actually has a real QB and not a game-manager QB like in the past that was good enough to win multiple national championships along with their typical great defenses and depth everywhere. That’s scary to think.

I thought the game would be closer. An impressive, dominating performance by Alabama.

A major victory for the Crimson Tide.

A crimson tide could also be described as a red wave. I wonder if this is an omen.

I thought it a very impressive win—except for the kicking.

Alabama has trailed once this season, for 1:10 (Mississippi managed to score first). In general, I root for the Tide dynasty as it seems to me a good way to keep the East in its place. I’m from Oregon—My east includes Colorado.

I visited your home page for the first time in a while. It’s changed some. I noticed one LSU hat in one of the pictures. Who do you pull for?

I like SEC TEAMS period but we are an LSU and Bama family though I graduated Ole mIss long ago

I grew up on a lake house and deer camp at lake Bruin Louisiana and lived in fairhope Alabama a few years so I’ve got allegiances

Alabama wins so much....so I was somewhat LSU

My middle boy who plays high school football at a 6A school is all Geaux

We got to at least one LSU game per year

We were in BR for their win over Georgia...ironic no

Thanks for the kind words

Alabama is like a pro team...a machine

Excellently coached

And he gets respect from kids unfamiliar with male authority

I’m of two minds on who to pull for in the Cal-Washington State fan. As someone who is naturally an Oregon State fan, Washington State is the best cultural proxy for a decent football team. That said, an WSU loss would help to open the way for a second SEC team.

Out side of WSU and O(regon)SU,I generally pull against the rest of the PAC 12 and the Big 10 for cultural reasons. I’m against Notre Dame because I’m a serious Catholic. The ACC should stick to basketball.
