Just about a half-hour ago when I clicked on my shortcut to go to FreeRepublic.com, a page popped up indicating something along the lines that "QANON.com" was phishing for information on FreeRepublic, and, when I continued, the address at the top now indicates that it's "dangerous" and it has lined through the "https" part of the indentification.
Is something actually going on or is this something that Google is just doing to show its displeasure with a conservative website?
It's not the shortcut, because I tried coming in directly from the search engine, along with typing in "https://www.freerepublic.com" specifically.
Any info or help that anyone can give?
Im using safari and while others have noted this for the past day or so I have yet to see it. I think its browser specific
Thanks ... I’m using Chrome.
I think “dangerous” is how America-hating lefties describe sites that are hazardous to the mental health of liberal “prog” snowflakes.
FYI: A "Dangerous" site alert from Chrome came up while accessing this thread on FreeRepublic. This has never happened before (at least since 1998) ... Just thought everyone would want to know. I sent Google appropriate feedback on the warning. The text of the "red text" warning is reported below):
"This site is deceptive. Attackers on this site may trick you into doing something dangerous like installing software or revealing your personal information (for example, passwords, phone numbers, or credit cards)."
I use safari on the iPad and have never seen that. I use chrome, both on Verizon. Who’s your isp?
I guess it depends on what you post. Are you a flamethrower? Just kidding.
I use Safari, and have never gotten a notice like that.
I have a couple of times on my iPad. But its specific to.....the site may be being hijacked. Not the real site. If I close everything out and come back its gone.
I was replying to the poster that I have NOT seen it while using Safari
Use a different browser (or better yet a
virtual machine) for pr0n
Free Republic REALLY IS A dangerous site IF YOU POST SOMETHING STUPID. Freepers are merciless.
Got booted offline several hours ago. Happened while I was reading FR. I finally got back online, after rebooting my router five or six times, but FR is still giving me problems. Haven’t seen any messages that claim FR is a dangerous website, though. Overall, it’s been a very weird morning on the internet today!
same here for 3 days now...regardless of wifi location
Google Chrome now classifies a site as dangerous if it finds a link on that site to another site that has been compromised. In other words, it's the QAnon site link that is compromised not FreeRepublic.
Things will only intensify, solidify and steadily become worse if the Left takes over any more of government than they have now. They must be pushed back at the ballot box!
Many thanks for the clarification!
A lot of discussion about this on the last Q thread.
I was getting it until I stopped using Chrome or Firefox and started using only Brave. There are ways to stop it even on Chrome. It’s a google piece of crap attempt at censoring.
It’s not about any sites being compromised. It’s about google not wanting people to see certain things. In the same vein, twatter banning conservatives all over the place, Fakebook censoring conservative content, etcetc. Part of the same push.
“In other words, it’s the QAnon site link that is compromised not FreeRepublic.”
I’m not tech-savvy enough to know what this indicates, but a couple of days ago I got a ransomware email containing a hacked password, and the password was my FR password (it’s since been changed). It’s not a password I used anywhere else. My ISP’s tech person said hackers usually obtain these from “less secure” sites.
