I also get the call and they say they will arrest me in a hour if I don’t call them. I call knowing a Indian will answer. he wants me to pay $3,000 on my credit card. I SAY JUST COME AND ARREST ME. LOL NOTHING JUST A SCAM
It’s a scam. Ignore them. Don’t answer, or don’t respond if you already have answered. If the IRS wants to talk to you they’ll send you a letter in the mail.
We get these same robo calls from time to time too. One of them even says something to the effect “if you don’t respond within 48 hours the cops will come and arrest you” It’s a hoot! Sounds like the call was probably programmed in the back room of a Tandori restaurant in India.
Yep. Total Scam. The return phone number will be disconnected soon so call now if you want to play with them.
You should expect that every call from a number you don’t know is a scam and not answer the calls. Anyone with actual business can leave a message.
I report these to the IRS via email with all pertinent information. Here is the email address: phishing@irs.gov
You should get one of these to end this problem.
Naah, been going on for years-———any “mystery” type of call coming in should be ignored.
.
Also....there are numerous YouTube vids of people trolling the scammers that are a hoot. Look up “IRS Scam”.
If it comes regular mail you should respond.
When they send you a certified letter you must respond.
The scam is usually run out of Pak-ee-stain.
I have never picked up the phone on any of these.
I must be in so much trouble, oh my.
Others are the Windows is expired one, the we need to contact you about your credit card (I dont do credit cards), somebody is doing illegal things with your SS number and call or the police are coming over.
There are more, just cant remember right now.
My mom got the “grandson is in jail in Brazil and needs bail $$” one. She played with them like a cat with a mouse.
Total scam. Tell your state AG and then forget it.
Nearly everyone I know has had this scam or something very similar pulled on them. The last one we got was someone claiming to be from the Sheriffs department claiming my wife was about to be arrested for missing jury duty.
My husband and I put our 5 year old gabby granddaughter on the phone and tell her its Santa Clause wanting to know what she wants for Christmas. He wont get a word in edgewise.
1) the irs DOESN’T call You, they send a form letter and You call them.
2) This is the same A$$hole$ that called Me from a DC number leaving msg. After about 6 of them and I call back right Away and cussed the raghead out and said stop calling. Then they called from a Houston, TX number. I rinsed and repeated, again a raghead. Then called from Washington State. Rinse/repeat. That was the last time.
I didn’t have a Boat Horn in a can of I would have BLASTED them. Wally*World has the Horns.
Have fun.
I got a couple of these calls about a year ago. They threatened to “send the cops” (their words) for me if I didn’t respond.
We got that call a few times last year.
Report it to your local District Attorney.
They can get the message out.
A poor old woman here got scammed for $20,000!..................
I have gotten several of these calls and just hang up. If the IRS has a problem with you they send a letter. They do not call!
One day I was rather bored and got one of these phone calls. I feigned fear about the problem. I kept the dude on the line for about ten minutes asking questions about how to fix this and expressing gratitude for his help. When it finally arrived at the point of my credit card number to pay to fix this I asked him, “do you have my file pulled up on your computer screen?” He said yes. I asked, “what was my gross income that year?” The next thing I heard was him hanging up the phone :)
Actually this scam works on the elderly. These people are absolutely evil.
So how much did you cheat them out of? Joking!
It was a scam call, ignore it.
