Church leaders urged governments around the world to ramp up their climate action efforts on Friday (26 October), calling for ambitious implementation of the Paris Agreement.
In a joint appeal, the presidents of the Catholic continental bishops conference, which represents church leaders from five continents, insisted that the international community has a moral duty to meet the targets of the landmark climate accord.
According to the appeal, launched today in Rome, the six presidents said that the upcoming UN climate change summit in Poland this December should act as a milestone on the path set out in 2015 in Paris.
In a sub-section of the appeal called 1.5°C to stay alive, the bishops highlighted that the effects of climate change are not evenly distributed and warned that many millions of migrants will follow because of its impact.
It comes off the back of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Changes watershed-moment report on the effects of global warming, which warned that a so-called 2 degrees world would be more affected than previously thought.

Maybe Catholic Bishops should spend more time worrying about saving souls, particularly the souls of the predator priests they protect.

Is that the climate change temperature target that the U.N. has already stated cannot be met?
Perhaps Catholic Bishops should try lowering the temperature of their horny gay priests, bishops, and cardinals first.
Then they can deal with much LESS significant matters.

I’d tell them to go F themselves but they probably already have (with joy and love in their hearts).

I'm tired of these bums. They squeeze and skim and scoop dollars...All I want to do is support my (mostly conservative) parish, but I know for everything dollar I give 30+ cents is going to fund this Marxist garbage. I want to support retired priests and large swathes of that money is snatched. We're hitting the point where we'll have to abandon the patrimony we've been accustomed to for tge sake of starving this beast...My generally rational, conservative, excellent pastor insists that Catholics should tithe without critical thought, as a free gift to God. I disagree. I refuse to abandon common sense. To abandon God-given discernment, to look the other way and fund destruction. Woe to them that call good evil and evil good.
The Church has stood as a bulwark against cultural Marxism, until now, relatively suddenly, those in power promote Marxism...But I'm supposed to pretend not to notice that and keep giving as if all,is fine and well?
Ticks me off.

You can always tithe to the Salvation Army, like I do. They are an actual church as well as a charity. I prayerfully take 10% off the top of each paycheck (before taxes) and send that portion to them. Plus, their tax deductibility does not hurt, but I try to keep that as a secondary reason.

What ever happened to the Church’s concern for our souls and our eternal existence rather than the physical world and the temporary existence?
