The philosophy major concedes that his student loan balance of around $20,000 isnt as large as the burden shouldered by many other borrowers, but he said his difficultly finding a college-level job in the U.S. has made that debt oppressive nonetheless. If youre not making a living wage, Haag said, $20,000 in debt is devastating.

20K, if he lived in his parent's basement and earned the fabled $15/hr, he should have cleared enough to pay it off and be free as a bird after one year.
Now the unfortunate Indians will be paying his way.
This guy majored in philosophy and he can’t wax philosophically about how stupid he was to major in a worthless venture??
Philosophy major can’t find a well paying job? I’m stunned.
I saw an ad today online in my area offering 80 HOURS A WEEK work delivering, obviously off the books, so illegal.
But I know the area and it was paying 8 plus tips.
That’s a grand a week CASH.
Plus there’s no limit on how many hours you can drive for UBER or LYFT or the local livery station.
WHY should it take more than 40 months for a kid to pay off his loan with the right number of hours while living at home?
Lazy, whiny punk a@@ b.tch
I know the rest.
Being a lettered philosopher is not a viable career choice?
Who knew?
The idiot chose a major for which there is next to no demand.
If he wanted to get an income and get out of his debt, he needed to be an uber-leftist and can stay in school until his doctorate, writing a new branch of the application of Marxist dialectics to some non-political topic, and with that be handed a professorship by his fawning fans in academia.
Problem identified in the first three words ...
Hahahaha - that would be a great Gufas and Galant !!!
Gee, how will we do without another philosophy major? And the US working taxpayers will not be paid back the $20K he borrowed for his worthless degree.
*BUMP*
But she is an arrogant liberal, and he a Hillary deplorable that is responsible and carries his own way.
Seems most young snowflakes see college, not as prep for a future career, but as four years of party time and entry into the cult of the elite.
There are way too many options to prepare for a well-paying career that another useless degree in philosophy, or “women’s studies”.
There’s countless tech schools, the military, or just on the job training to learn a trade, without years of hard payments on a “student loan”.
The young “brains full of mush” don’t seem to realize how fast that four years actually goes by, and suddenly they’re graduating with an unmarketable “skill”.
I’m retired now, but in business years, I’ve had to fire more “college graduates” for incompetence than anyone else.
The Directive Principles of State Policy, enshrined in Part IV of the Indian Constitution reflects that India is a welfare state. Seats are reserved for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes in government jobs, educational institutions, Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha. The government has passed laws for the abolition of untouchability, Begar and Zamindari. The government has opened Fair Price Shops, where essential commodities are sold at reasonable prices to the poorer sections of the society.
But not being a citizen I doubt he is eligible. So he married a woman. It will now be her responsibility to take care of him. I believe that she is a professor. His education is education, and he has a masters degree, so perhaps he can get a job doing that. He might even start to feel guilty and start repaying his debt, but I doubt it.
I wonder if he was one of those that supports the notion that the world's poor need to be able to come to America, by any means possible. That only makes America more expensive to live in.
Cut out all those Starbucks mocha lattes and they’d have enough to pay off their student loans.
Among the ever increasing number of new silly college requirement classes, Budgeting Life Skills should be at the top of the list.
He could pay off 20k in five years if he were MOTIVATED.
What the media and others will never mention is how the insiders in academia (leftists mostly) all get a massive employee benefit that allows them to send their children at a discount of tuition and other expenses to their own and other colleges, while taxpayers and paying students subsidize them. Those in and that control academia have no incentive to improve efficiency and lower costs.
Just because his degree is in philosophy doesnt mean he couldnt get a good job. He should have good reasoning skills and the ability to write. He just hasnt worked at it. I know many liberal arts grads who have taken their skills and used them.
