We will see if the new executive management (formerly of Levi-Strauss) goes full Lib retard mantra like they did at Levi. If so, I will be done With Gibson and I own three of their premier products.
I paid $830 for my 2018 PRS SE Custom 24 and it is perfect - fit and finish. Gibson has made good guitars, but not so much recently.....
To carry Gibson brand, the company forces retailers to buy and carry their top of the line products. Hell their standard Les Paul is $3500...ridiculous. just way out if the range for working musicians.

Built my “Les Paul style” guitar from a kit. $220. :D Now if only I could play better.
Paging the guitar ping list!
Rebelbase has the ping list.
It would be a true heartbreaker for Gibson to wind up under libtard management.
Regardless of their politics, my guess is the new management will ditch the traditional handmade construction for the mid and lower level guitars and move to a modern automated process. They were still doing artisan handwork like scraping the bindings even on their relatively inexpensive guitars, and that was killing them, in my opinion. They either need to think up a creative way to keep those processes and still create a product that they can turn a profit on at a reasonable price, or they need to reserve those processes strictly for a very expensive high end line. I suspect they’ll do the latter.
Sounds a lot like the General Motors saga. Obama DOJ drives them out of business and screws past owners and somehow a bunch of lib investors end up owning it.
Is there a better line of guitars in the world?
I think not.
This traditional art must be preserved and I’m glad to see it has been.
As I recall:
Non-union, quasi-conservative, target of commie lawfare. Now it will toe the lefty line.
Gibson = overpriced crap. There are many better ways to spend one’s guitar purchasing dollars.
Guitar/Bass ping list!
I guess I’ll always be a Fender guy. Not only is the Les Paul too heavy compared to my Strat they also seem to me to have a slightly smaller fretboard. Since I have a fairly large hand and fingers it constricts me compared to the Strat, which just feels right to me.
Nothing against pickers who play Gibsons at all. As a pro level bassist I’ve played with many Les Paul guys and I have plenty of respect for them.
I have a J-45 with an adjustable bridge (ADJ). It was given to me in Virginia in ‘72. When I lived in Denver, in ‘79-80 it was my beer money. I played a lot of “cry in your beer” songs in a little bar up the street till the house band came in. Occasionally one of the bartenders would bring out his acoustic and play with me. Several times one of the house band guys came in early to play with us as well. Good times. I now play my J-45 in a senior center band, music out of the 20’s-40’s, having a great time.
First bass I ever had was a beautiful EBO. Great starter bass. Only downside was the short scale neck. And it had a good tone, but not THE tone. I found that tone in a Fender P-Bass I got in 1977 at a pawn shop. I set that bass down (still have it) when I got the Jazz Bass I play today. IMHO Gibsons rule for lead and rhythm but Fender rules the bass world.
