Had a date with a gal, in her late 30s early 40s can’t recall. Marathon runner, nut. Really healthy and fit, but she would tan everyday esp her face. She was as dark as an Indian.
I told her that she could use fake tanning lotions and look the same. I got her to back off where she would tan once per week...
Some people are addicted to this, and in fact will tan twice per day and different places.
It’s another addiction of sorts, or better said to be an obsession.
And some guy married someone this stupid, huh?
White people don’t need to be tan.
I have a similar scar on my head from removal of a Basal Cell Carcinoma. For me it wasn’t vanity, but carelessness when living in some tropical climates as a young man.
She worked hard at it. It seems they are blaming the tanning beds but there was a lot of natural sun exposure and also no sunscreen ever? She was trying to get skin cancer.
My mother in law was always red/brown from the sun. She’d lie out for hours up until she was about 60. She had a mild form of skin cancer in her shins and went thru painful Dr’s visits to keep it at bay. She died at 93 but went thru a lot of skin grafts and horrible pain.
Looking back on old photos of her it just wasn’t attractive. Certainly not worth it with what she dealt with.
She should go to a melanoma blog and see/read what others have and are going through with metastatic melanoma. People have no idea.
My brother died of skin cancer. He was a redheaded outdoorsman. He was not good about wearing a hat. He got it on his head and it burroughed dealer and deeper. He lost his ear, and then his sight and then died at 48.
It all started when he was 23.
My parents were not good at keeping him out of the sun.
Fortunately both of my grandfathers were from Beirut. Natural tan 24/7 365. No tanning bed needed.
I had a roommate in college (U of S FL - 1970) who scheduled all his classes to leave the peak UV rays of the day open for tanning. 10-12 every day. We called him the sun king. He had leathery skin even at 19.
I wonder what happened to him.
Mother-of-two is left with a HOLE in her face...
No she isn't.
UV is a carcinogen.
