What a game! After the scoreless 5th, I wondered whether it would go extra innings with a 0-0 tie.

Speaking of extra innings...While we talk about how exhausted the players must have been after WS game 3, consider home plate umpire Ted Barrett (age 53), who called 561 pitches thrown during 18 innings, handling and put more than 300 baseballs in play. One bathroom break after the 14th inning. Ouch!

Barrett, with a doctorate in theology, recites scripture in his head during games. His favorite during game 3: “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.”

The Kimbrel guy is a scary pitcher, the way he does his “crab” routine on the mound and then throws like you would expect a spider to throw. He would be perfect for a Halloween game if this went to game 7. But it’s probably not going to make it to game 7.

Hee Hee. I like the “thug” after Machado’s name. I think the Sox will get it tonight, but if not, there are two things I would like if it went back to Boston -— a win with fans present, AND to hear Machado booed.
