We need a great dining spot for one night. Gotta be great food. Really want it to be representative of New Orleans cuisine/style but that doesn't have to be the sole menu focus.
Don't want steakhouses (Doris) or the better Italian places. I've seen the list of usual suspects but some seem to formal (Brennans) and others not interesting.
Looking for a "business casual" atmosphere. Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks!
Don’t know about N.O. cuisine restaurants, and I’m sure someone will have great suggestions. We went to the WWII museum a few years back and ate lunch at the restaurant there, The American Sector. BEST HAMBURGER ever.
Bayou Burger is a nice place, Central Market & Deli if you want mufaletta and Ruby Slipper is amazing for breakfast. M2C
We are going to the museum. It looks stellar. Can’t wait. Good to know though, we may need a bite there.
Irenes. Just north of the Quarter.
The best food is upstate. NO is not really safe.

Get out of the city and visit a real local place. No idea if they are open Thanksgiving weekend.
Galatoires, Tableau
Cochon for sure.

For business casual Id do Acme Oyster House.

There really are no bad restaurants in New Orleans. There are so many good ones that the bad ones do not last.
I think Hymel’s is where we could charge our meal on our Texaco credit card (parents) when we were in college at LSU way back when! Delicious!
The Bon Ton was known for great Louisiana chow when I did business in town. Dont know if its still around.
That was on my list.
But the wife balked at the menu a bit. Is it really as small as the website indicates?
For authentic Cajun food and atmosphere, Mulates is very hard to beat, and close to the casino which is a safe area. For one meal with a variety, you might like Dragos in the Hilton by the riverfront. I would start off with the chargeilled oysters.
Commander’s Palace
1403 Washington Ave., New Orleans, 504.899.8221
In Garden District
The Camellia Grill
The BEST greasy spoon I’ve ever been in
Wonderful breakfasts
Right on Cable Car Run up St. Charles to Carrolton
If you go for a drink after dinner, don’t miss Latitude 29 for real retro tiki cocktails.
We liked the Bourbon House.
Pricy but it was a special occasion.

Id say Cochon is intimate. Probably seats 50-60. The food is amazing.
Acme is more a working class joint. Cold beer, grilled oysters. Really good.
For a late night snack hit Willies Fried Chicken. Awesome if you need to soak up some alcohol before bed. LOL
Have a safe trip.

Museum was AWESOME! We are going back soon and taking the grandchildren - they are all into history and WWII. Have a wonderful time!!
