When I click the link for freerepublic on Yahoo I get a Not Secure at the top of the page in the address bar when I click on it..
I logged out of FR completely and closed the browser. Opened browser and went to log-in page for FR. To the right of the fields for user name and password, there’s a dropdown menu with “convenient”, “secure”, etc.
There may be an easier way, but that’s how I did it. (Nothing changed, though. Still “not secure”.)
Mine has the “s”,but no lock.
.
.
Try it. 🤑
You will pay.Maybe with pain.:)
Mine has said that for months. I just happened to notice it.
It doesn’t change the function any.
This may be a little trick to scare newer people from staying on this site. “Oh Oh! You better be careful!! I wouldn’t go THERE if I were you!”
why in Goodness’s Name are you going to Yahoo??
Do you have an AOL account too??
Thanks, that works.
When you sign in, on the left there is a box that says “privacy.” The topmost says “Convenient.” Click on the arrow and a list will drop down . Click “most secure.”
Of course you will have to sign out first.
That is weird.
Make sure your link to FR starts with “https” ie: https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3698625/posts
Upgrade to Netscape Navigator Gold 2.0...
“Company officials claim the Navigator browser represents 85 percent of usage on the Web; Netscape competitor Microsoft claims that 30 percent of Windows 95 users surf the Net with its Internet Explorer browser.”
You can’t argue with that.
Oh,got you.
I have “Not secure” then www., no http or https
You can’t see the link on the top with the https://.Both Yahoo and Google are linking to Not Secure.I did what you said after that and it went away.
If you click on the little i in a circle in chrome address bar, it tells you that you may not want to put sensitive information (bank accounts, payment info, passwords, etc.). Since we do not post that type of info on the page, it doesn’t matter that it isn’t secure.
I’m on a stupid Chrome-can’t even get Firefox but it is fast and it was free.
Make sure the bookmark (or whatever link you saved to come to FR) has the https.
Logged out, then back in. I retained the “Most convenient” login setting. Now I have the lock and https showing.
Looks like some internet hiccup. Or chinese hacking :)
