A couple of tourists are in big trouble in Thailand for spraying graffiti on an ancient wall in Chiang Mai.
The duo, a British man and Canadian woman were caught on video marking up the Tha Phae Gate.
The Brit, 23 year- old Lee Furlong has admitted to committing the crime, spraying the words Scouser Lee on the gate. BBC.com says that he would be charged with vandalizing an archaeological site.
The other artist involved in the crime, Brittney Schneider was arrested and charged with vandalism for spraying the first letter of her name on the gate.
BBC reports that the duo admitted committing the crime, saying they did it because of the thrill and they were also a little bit drunk.
CCTV from a cafe close by allegedly recorded the crime. It shows four people approach the gate at around 4:00. Two of them went up to the gate while it shows one start spraying the paint. The other two people in the video were not arrested.
Furlong and Schneider now face up to 10 years in jail and/ or a fine of up to one million baht which comes to a little over $30,000 US.
I have, I’m not...
*sigh* That might well be what a Liberal judge would rule.
OTOH, when they’re found dead, there would be several million suspects the police would have to investigate...
Don't think it was hers, but now she has to pay the price for being stupid.
They cleaned up the wall before they publicly shamed her and the mother paid $6,000 to get her out of jail.
They should just kick her out of the country and never allow her to return and Canada can do what they want in regards to her travel passport...........She learned a lesson the hard way.

Schneider said her daughter was intoxicated after going out to a local bar and joining in when others started defacing the wall with a can of spray paint theyd found on the ground.
She did the same thing because she thought it was cool. She didnt know it was a monument wall an important wall, she said tearfully.
Col. Teerasak Sriprasert, chief of the Chiang Mai police, said that Lee admitted that he wrote “Scouser Lee” on the 800-year old wall, while Schneider told police that she wrote the letter “B” underneath it.
Security cameras on the street appear to show the pair picking up a spray can on the ground and defacing the wall near the Tha Pae Gate in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Thai prisons are just a tad different from US prisons. Just a bit less luxury.
