The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds.
From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed any time-and don't have to be about gardening.
Is there something edible I could grow indoors? It’s starting to get a bit cold here. :-(
Gosh, I really miss Colorado. Lived there for 10 years.
Sorry to hear about your loss. That’s always hard. Lost my dad a couple of years ago and I think about him every day.
Thank you. It was expected, just not right then. Sepsis is a pretty certain killer unfortunately.
Baby lettuces/greens are great to grow indoors. Just need a light and a tub of soil of some sort with drainage pan underneath.
U R Welcome. Dehydrating is my go to when freezer is full and I don’t want to drag out the pressure cooker.
Thanks. Much appreciated.
Things I have grown indoors: Herbs, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce; spinach, lemons; aloe vera, new Zealand spinach.
Those will keep in the fridge for a couple days. Nuke in microwave or heat in toaster oven. A schmear of butter or peanut butter is good too.
Thanks. Heading outdoors now.
3,200 square foot house? When was the last time you saw your wife???
WTH??? If this were fake book I would unfriend you!!!!!!
still having problems with Flikr so no photos for now
Sorry you can’t post pics. Always enjoy them. I wound up digging up the turmeric and several herbs. Trimmed off some tomato branches to stick in dirt and hope they form roots.
Got the garlic ready for tomorrow. Planting some garlic and rye tomorrow. Maybe wheat, if the temp gets low enough tonight.
The cold temps wiped out my okra patch, so I chopped it all down yesterday. I'm going to use that spot for my garlic this time, so hopefully this week I'll be able to get the stalks cleaned up and the ground turned.
Got the irrigation lines up yesterday and ran the bush hog over the pumpkin patch.
We've gotten most of the deadfall cleaned up around the fence rows, which has helped to size up the firewood pile. Pops had a couple ash trees that were growing next to his house taken down last week. We got those worked up and have the logs ready to load for a trip to the sawmill.
