Many are saying that this could be the best overall team that Nick Saban has ever assembled. That is not good news for opponents since Saban has assembled so many national championship teams.
So looking at the current top ten, what are the chances they realistically have to pose a problem to the Tide? Lets go in order of what this writer who has covered football for long thinks and well start in order of the teams with the worst chance.
Starting with number nine of the chart to topple the tide.
9. Michigan Currently the number 6 team in the nation, Michigan just doesnt have the defense to begin to slow the Tide. Theyre also undermanned on the offensive line and their Ole Miss transfer quarterback would be running for his life.
In total defense theyre 37th, in total offense theyre 80th. They could play Alabama 100 times and theyd lose all 100.
8. Texas Currently the number 7 team in the nation, the Longhorns are still growing from the ashes and dont have the depth to stand with Alabama through even one half of play.
Their team isnt even in the top one third of all teams in total defense, coming in at 49, so the Tide could hang 60 on them in total and easily be ahead 42- 6 by halftime. Their 65th rated offense would have trouble scoring on this team and if they managed more than 13, it would be a surprise.
They let a two loss Maryland team run all over them and Maryland lost to Temple. Alabama could play Texas 100 times and the Longhorns would lose all 100.
7. UCF Central Florida hasnt really played a lot of the big boys and theyve shown they have problems with some

How many of those graduates majored in real subjects, not Evergreen College type degrees like General Studies, Leisure Studies or Communications
I sure hope you're wrong but that's hard to deny - he's such a strategist you would think he would know his fan base.
I like him because he's great for business in our town. Unbelievable amounts of money come into town on game weekends; people buy expensive houses here just to have a place to stay to go to the games. I guess, in reality, the only thing that would turn people off is if he started losing. Or lost to Auburn 3 years in a row .... lol
I have known of people who actually took to their beds over lost games, as if it's life or death. It's not.
Agree wholeheartedly. As you say, some blue dog Dims are more conservatives then Republicans. But in the end they vote for the same speaker of the house, the same senate majority leader, etc.
You got that right.
Really, because the coach holding the championship trophy last year looks identical to Nick Saban and nothing like Frost... Who did UCF play last year? Lets take a look: besides playing Memphis, like, a gazillion times, they beat Auburn... wow. Meanwhile, ‘Bama played FL State, Vandy, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Tennessee, Texas A&M, LSU, Auburn, Florida and Georgia in the championship game. Geez... those are teams even a non-football watching person would recognize. Who the heck is Austin Peay? What the heck is Austin Peay? Why did Ausitn Peay score 33 points on UCF?
I still say I have the best approach to the playoffs.
You take your Power Five conference winners plus the two best at-large teams, and seed them.
The top 2 seeds get a bye.
The 6th and 7th seeds play each other to play the 3rd seed, while the 4th and 5th seeds play each other.
Then you have your National Semifinals, just like you do today.
Really? That’s your logic? UCF beat Auburn and Auburn beat Bama therefore UCF was the national champ? They went undefeated in the AA I’ll give them that, but the competition??? So, if UCF played Bama’s scheudle last year, would they have been able to win enough to even compete for the national championship. HECK NO!!!!! I notice you’re not mentioning the other three games Auburn and UCF played. Who won all of those games? Bottom line, if I want to go see the 2017 National championship trophy I have to go to T-Town, not Orlando.
I disagree. LSU Red Zone was bad then and worse last week vs Miss St. You are going to have to make touchdowns to beat Bama. Field goals aren't going to cut. And you have a pipe dream if you think anyone can keep Bama under 40 points with starters in the game.
I sometimes feel like my heart is going to jump out of my chest when Bama is down (see last year vs Auburn). But when it's over and they lose, it all goes away. I don't understand the people that hold on to that pain. it's weird.
Do you follow Jermaine Funnymaine Johnson? He makes me laugh.
I’ll have to check out Jermaine Funnymaine Johnson.
when WV defeats OK and TX they will be in the middle of the list.
