Note to self: Don’t eat squirrel brains
Mad Cow Disease.
No, it isn’t caused by a picture of Hillary Clinton
If it’s so rare how come I’ve heard a dozen people talking about relatives with it while waiting in lines?
Maybe this is the same issue that tribal cannibals have - the ones that have traditions for eating brains of their dead as a way of mourning for the recently deceased.
Play stupid games win stupid prizes. But I highly doubt it is the first time the disease was contracted in the US. Maybe the first know US case from squirrel meat
Stupid should hurt.
Its dumb to eat brains when you have steak and pork. I ate goat brain curry in 1988. I was on a business trip in the Far East and it would have been impolite to refuse at an important dinner where it was considered a delicacy reserved for special guests. I declined a second serving with the excuse that I was full.
People are born with a conscience. We know right and wrong.
To defile a dead animal or another human by eating their brains is simply...evil.
So, the punishment for this sin, this evil...is Death.
Undercooked?
Seems like an easy disease to avoid.
Folks were warned about Rocky’s Revenge back in 1997.
Get the print edition didn’t see that in it. But PM does have a feature in it about land line phone service changing a requirement to keep a phone working and offer a immediate repair if a line is down and how congress (while the dems had it ) now allows the carriers grace time of weeks if a phone goes out to fix it because of change over to fiber optic cable.
Must have been acting squirrelly.
Absolutely untrue. I worked with a man whose wife died of this several years ago. As far as I know, it had nothing to do with eating brains of any kind.
There was a cluster of C-J cases in Eastern Kentucky and all they had in common was that they ate squirrel brains but it was never proved that the squirrels were the source of the prion. If this was found then in retrospect the brains in those cases are highly suspect.
The news here in England today is that a cow has been found in Scotland that died from BSE. The authorities are all over it.
We at squirrels all the time in the Ozarks but never considered eating the heads because they were usually messed up from the pellets.
My Uncle Bob (from East TX) the loved hunting squirrels and more likely than not Smothered Rodent was on the table than not when visiting them on weekends. He certainly wasn’t poor he had a few oil wells pumping across the highway.
Not exactly my favorite thing for dinner and you had to mind the pellets because my Aunt usually missed a couple cleaning them I assume the heads were tossed...in the garbage not the pot. Her fried Okra though was heaven on a plate.
