one step closer to Gunsmoke reboot? hat tip TV Grim Reaper.
Waiting for Leave It to Beaver reboot. So much suspense!
Theo was what seven when the show went off. Would make him 22, 23 today. Old enough to be a cop, but detective, no way not in the NYPD. Unless they are going the old soap opera route where the kid is six and the next year is 18.
Why don’t the networks put out a call for people to submit a script for $1 million dollars? There are plenty of ideas out there. No wonder streaming services and channels are killing traditional TV.
“My Mother The Hybrid”.
These stories just stink of desperation.
The “big three” networks have lost their audiences. Many watch cable channels, many use streaming services and many (like me) don’t watch much tv at all.
They will not lure me back by reviving or remaking classics (though I never watched NYPD Blue). If I want to watch these shows, I can buy the originals on DVD. No commercials, nowhere near the political correctness that permeates modern shows.
I suppose a MASH revival, this time set in Iraq with Jim Carrey as Hawkeye and Lena Dunham as a lesbian Hot Lips Hoolihan, is next in the offing.
Dungey is in trouble.
Killing off Roseanne, while politically expedient, pissed off the sponsors.
NYC was a completely different city than it is today. And there was so much ass in that show. No way you get away with that in the age of Tinder. You won’t get away with the nudity or sexual situations in the MeToo set.
Why don’t they just remake all of the programs from the 60s and 70s and 80s and tag them Next Generation or 3rd Generation, or Grand-Kids Edition, etc.?
Every remake/retool/reboot supports the fact that Hollow-wood is void of new ideas.
They could reboot My Favorite Martian - My Favorite Alien
How about a Mr. Ed redux as - Mr. Transgender who thinks he is a Horse
Gilligan’s Island as “Gitmo Island”
I can think of others involving “All In The Family” and “Sandford and Son” but they are too lewd
When it went off the air Theo had enlisted in the military. I forget which branch.
I loved that show & am surprised there arent any reruns.
Flop
I’m waiting for a reboot of “My Favorite Martian”.
I see what you did there!
Never watched it when it was on. Won’t watch any new hatchling of it. Gives me more time to read, watch Netflix, and all the British programs I’ve downloaded over the years.
Ward, I believe you were to hard on the Beaver last night.
LOLOL!!!! I closed out the window with your post in it, and started snickering five seconds later. Funny!!
"Heroes & Icons" had been showing reruns of "NYPD Blue" as well as "Hill Street Blues" for some time now. Two classic cop shows.
My greatest concern with the NYPD Blue sequel is that it gets far too PC and far less police work than the original. Even the female cops in the original were hard-edged, yet quite easy on the eyes.
Is there so little creativity in Hollywood that remakes and comic books are the only avenue for production?
The lead should be fat, bald and not handsome. Franz carried that show but if I recall they always partnered him with the typical handsome actor type.
