Hardy is a highly-trained U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agriculture Detector dog and he sniffed out the roasted pig’s head in the luggage of a passenger traveling from Ecuador at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Oct. 11.
[P]ork and pork products from other continents are not allowed into the United States in an effort to avoid introducing foot and mouth disease, classical swine fever and other animal diseases.
CBP Area Port Director Carey Davis hailed Hardy’s work as illustrating “the tremendous expertise of our four-legged K-9 partners in protecting the United States.”
Hardy has worked at Atlanta’s airport since 2015, when he finished up U.S. Department of Agriculture training. He’s a rescued beagle and is 6 years old.

What a GREAT photo! Yeah I’m sure the beagle was just doing his job and had no ulterior motive for the roasted pig.

I knew a guy who owned a series of beagles, and he once said to me:
"You know why God made beagles so damn cute? So you won't effing KILL them!"
Agreed, the reasoning for this being a crime doesn’t make a lot of sense.
Absolutely! Reminds me of a long ago time when I was tagged for a random K9 sweep when returning to Shaw AFB from a fast food run. The dog went straight to my burgers that were in a bag in the back seat and remained fixated there as his handler tried to redirect him. I'm convinced that I could have had a pile of loose cocaine on the front seat and he would have never noticed. LoL
That is one happy pup.

I read a local news report: It wasn’t just a roasted pig head. It was TWO FULL cooked piggies wrapped up and put into checked bags.
There is video somewhere of the whole pig. YUM!

I know someone who does this(TSA Beagle Brigade) at Washington Dulles. She former worked at JFK. It is surprising what type of food items foreigners will try to bring back into the USA.
There used to be a show on one of the cable shows about the people at JFK that did this job of screens for contraband. It was amazing the stuff people brought in their luggage.
This story was on Fox News yesterday. It was not just the head of the pig. It was an entire small roasted pig.
Ive been travelling internationally for decades...always has been a rule that food items must be declared.
That picture is priceless.
