A Mississippi grandmother was arrested Tuesday after officials found a baby girl stabbed, placed into a hot oven on Monday night.
Carolyn Jones, 48, is charged with first-degree murder for the death of her granddaughter in Shaw, Miss., Bolivar County Sheriff Kelvin Williams confirmed to NBC News on Tuesday.
The infant, 20-month-old Royalty Marie Floyd, was found by a relative who then contacted the Shaw Police Department. Upon arriving at the scene, the police contacted the Bolivar County Sheriff's Office for assistance.
Royalty had been living with Jones at the time of her death the sheriff's office said in a press release. It was unclear where the girl's parents were.
Jones had a court appearance Tuesday evening and was given a $500,000 bond.

What people do to children today is beyond imagination! I’ve read some cruel and horrible things from criminal investigations.
A police officer I knew said that the general population has no idea the environments they walk into when they answer calls..and what kids are subject to every day. And my daughter in law worked in a trauma center..said they can handle anything that comes in until it’s an abused kid, the staff often ends up in tears once the children are treated.

I feel you - such stories make me want to cry...
Amen. Great words and the truth of the Gospel.
Today people regard old punishments like public hangings, floggings, chain gangs, or the stocks as primitive and evil. They should be starting to understand how they evolved - and why they were so effective.
What is also different today is how lenient the punishment is in comparison.

In tribal societies it was a lot more rampant and look on in favor.

I don’t agree it’s because we hear about it faster today....when Roe vs Wade passed the Sanctity Of Life ceased to be for babies in the womb....so for decades the following generations since have been led to believe it’s ok to kill babies in the womb. So why would parents today see children much different who abuse and disfigure their kids who are not yet gown adults?
We have not protect our children in this country.
