HAMILTON, Oct. 16, 1858.
WILLIAM STILL My Dear Friend: I saw Carter and his friend a few days ago, and they told me, that you was well. On the seventh of October my wife came to Hamilton. Mr. A. Hurberd, who came from Virginia with me, is going to get married the 20th of November, next. I wish you would write to me how many of my friends you have seen since October, 1857. Montgomery Green keeps a barber shop in Cayuga, in the State of New York. I have not heard of Oscar Ball but once since I came here, and then he was well and doing well. George Carroll is in Hamilton. The times are very dull at present, and have been ever since I came here. Please write soon. Nothing more at present, only I still remain in Hamilton, C. W.

October 18. People begin to forget the Atlantic cable, now generally conceded a failure. This is Cyruss Katabasis. The frantic orgasm of only fifty days ago seems a strange, remote, historical fact. Punch is very funny over our extravagancies of that date. Other English periodicals rebuke them more gravely. We made fools of ourselves beyond all question, but these Anglican criticisms are ungracious. What we exulted over so absurdly was the prospect of closer communication and hourly intercourse with England. The general spontaneous rejoicing of that time (Charles King says every half-fledged village on the upper Mississippi had its bonfire and its speechifications) is among the healthiest and most hopeful symptoms of this people in my day.

Well, that does it. Lincoln was a racist. Pull all his statues down!

Democrats were registering dead and illegal immigrants way back then.
Some things never change.

I see that Democrat voter fraud has been around for a long time.

October 21, THURSDAY. Principal news the issue of the much-talked-of prize fight. Morrissey prevailed against The Benicia Boy.*
* John Morrissey and John C. Heenan, two pugilistic Irish-Americans, had fought at Long Point Island in Lake Erie, about eighty miles from Buffalo; Heenan was knocked out in twenty-one minutes.

Normally my next step after a daily post is to go to Twitter and tweet out a post with the link back here for my 919 Twitter followers. Alas, I can’t do that for a while because of a 12 hour suspension of tweeting privileges I incurred for questioning the politically correct definition of “transgender.” In the meantime I will contact Twitter management to learn what exactly was offensive about my inoffensive tweet.
Fascinating. Did you do something like say a man is male?
Not exactly. In response to a tweet saying that the Trump administration plans to roll back protections of transgender people, I replied that I would worry about that only after I see a definition of “transgender” that passes a sanity test. I have tweeted things that I suspected some people would find offensive, but I thought this one was pretty mild. Somebody must have dropped a dime on me.
It’s a weird old world out there.
When ones whole purpose in life is being a grievance whore it’s not hard to find offenses...
