Allen passed away Monday afternoon in Seattle at 65 years old, Vulcan said. His sister, Jody, said he was "a remarkable individual on every level."

"While most knew Paul Allen as a technologist and philanthropist, for us he was a much-loved brother and uncle, and an exceptional friend. Paul's family and friends were blessed to experience his wit, warmth, his generosity and deep concern," she said in a statement. "For all the demands on his schedule, there was always time for family and friends. At this time of loss and grief for us – and so many others – we are profoundly grateful for the care and concern he demonstrated every day."

There are many cancer researchers looking for funding of clinical trials of unpatentable drugs and metabolic therapies. Of course, there is no profit to be made so drug companies are not interested.

My wife has cancer so I have been doing a lot of reading. The book “Tripping Over the Truth” tells the story about Dr. Young Ko at John’s Hopkins and her work with 3 bromo pyruvate (3BP).

It could be the answer, but she was involved in a lawsuit and patent fight with the university about ten years ago.

His company - Vulcan - will carry on with interesting research. I have heard about some of the projects that they are working on, and they are things that will change how we look at our planet. I think one project was something like figuring out how to actually count, not estimate, the number of fish in the oceans and where they are. Pretty heady stuff.
