If you, like me, grew up building plastic model cars, and think that it's now a forgotten hobby, you might be happily surprised that it's not only still around, the skill and ingenuity, IMO, has never been better.

Following is a compilation of car and truck model photos from various model car shows, all or most from within the past few years.

I'm sure you'll agree, there is some serious talent out there today.

Maybe next year I can finally get going on the unfinished room here.

It’s only 400 square feet though but large to me. I would like some of that space for model railroads. Seeing these slot car tracks makes me think even more.

I wonder if the slot car and future city model from the 50’s Design For Dreaming survived?

I had a few of those same HW cars as a kid.

Putting that foil tape on the chrome is very, very tedious.
Those people are building really good models.
I vote for the 56 Chev with the color change paint.

We did that with our GI Joe jeeps. Until we thought of having a line of fire to drive through. The line of fire (gas) caught the side of my buddy’s garage on fire. Luckily we were able to get the garden hose over there pretty quickly without the garage and attached house going up.
