The Packer sweep - a thing of beauty
loved to watch him run.... tried his style
One of the all time greats as an old school fullback. Tough as nails.
RIP
As the title of the book on Lombardi says “When Pride Still Mattered”.
Wonder what Vince Lombardi would think of today’s NFL?
RIP.
It wouldn’t be pretty ! Anyway no coach would hire a Lombardi today, way way too many entitled black/white/whatever snowflakes, mollycoddled all through college etc. and they expect that kind of “special treatment” to continue. Owners way way too cowardly to put a stop to it and why should they. A majority of the viewing public that doesn’t demand it!
“Gentlemen, we are going to relentlessly chase perfection, knowing full well we will not catch it, because nothing is perfect. But we are going to relentlessly chase it, because in the process we will catch excellence. I am not remotely interested in just being good.”
Vince Lombardi - First team meeting as Packers coach.
Imagine saying that today!
One of the greats.
RIP
Someone when asked to compare Jim Brown and Jim Taylor said: “Jim Brown will show you a leg and then take it away when you go for it. Jim Taylor will show you a leg and then ram it through your chest.”
That sweep was a thing of beauty.
RIP, Sir.

My Uncle whom played for the Giants and Rams as a Defensive Back surely knocked heads with Jim a number of times.
