Very interesting, thank you. Do you know how far west into Europe Mongols went? If at all? I notice Russians and some other Slavs often have the high cheekbones and somewhat slanted eyes that look Mongolish to me. Melania?

The western incursion, to my knowledge, was limited to “maybe” Tibet. The Caucasians held strong in the North so Ghengis headed to China, defeated the Great Wall but couldn’t get past the Himalayas.

They made it deep into Europe, to Hungary if I remember correctly. They could have kept going, but they pulled back, again if memory serves, there was turmoil in other parts of the empire, so they took their booty and left.
