Snip: I asked myself a question, after reading these posts: “Is there an alternative to confirming or not confirming Kavanaugh?” When a choice appears starkly binary, a third path appears impossible, by definition — but might possibly still be worth seeking. I tried to place myself in Kavanaugh’s position, while generating a potential answer (and think that I can do so with some justification, having been publicly identified as reprehensible by many people—prominent journalists, activists, and academics among them).

Ha! No...but I am responding in between the vocal spots I am recording for tomorrow’s messaging at the fair...Anyway, you and I disagree a bit...not totally, as we agree in some parts. So be it. Tain’t the end of the world. Kavanaugh is nicely secured as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. That is what matters. All the verbiage flying around during this surreal chapter is just that now...verbiage. And this is just the internet...

I suspect that unlike most of the early Freepers, who came a bit after you, you used your real name. Is that why you changed it? If so, I'll probably recognize it right away, as I was reading FR early on.

Well now I am done with the voicing...now to produce the product...that is add the intro, outro music beds, the various EFX sounds, etc and polish this puppy up and then there is another day in the can. After that I go load it up into the computer and it automatically fires off and the announcements go on when I am not there. Better than ten years ago when I did them all live.... Ha!

Agreed. He should simply have said he was wrong. And if he really still doesn’t understand how wrong he was, he should stop trying to fill the void of “genius” rushing in to offer a solution nobody else has thought of.
I agree with you, and then what is this caca about asking an audience whether he should keep his twitter account open? Just because he has a lot of followers, doesn’t make them an authority. Sheesh.

I was really impressed...here I was, a noob, and I was reading threads about their Walter Reed Freeps, and even though I lived in New England, I wanted to go to one, and kristinn invited me down if I wanted to participate, even said I could stay at his place. I have had many long conversations with him. Good guy, fights the fight.
I took him up on it, but ended up staying with Mr. and Mrs. Trooprally, who I became fast friends with. (Mrs. Trooprally passed away recently, but I have kept in touch with him. He has an account, but doesn’t post much anymore...)
My hunch is there's been a change in Peterson's life. A FReeper mentioned he plans to revert to a lower public profile.
So his weasel response is intentional. He does not want to become a lightning rod on this very contentious issue, especially when an evil "psychologist" is at the center of it.
Even his book, 12 Rules for Life, is a weasel work. It hints at many things but doesn't make points clear. I'll bet very few people were patient enough to read the full book: the writing is so convoluted and long-winded. And he knew that it was like that when he had it published.
Maybe his wife told him he better back off because she doesn't want to be like Rand Paul's wife who sleeps with a gun on the bed stand. From what we see of Canada's leftists, they seem like fanatical loons. Look at Trudeau!
Peterson also has a clinical practice and he may have trouble getting patients if the Canadian press goes after him full bore.
Besides, he's probably made a fortune from his book sales, lectures, and other activities. So why bother? Seems like Trump is a thorn in his side, too. All of which suggests Peterson is hedging. Remember, maybe no organization on Earth is as political as the Ivory Tower.
Bottom line: Peterson is an academic. He is much more interested in research than spreading knowledge. He likes wearing the white lab coat and being called "The Esteemed Doctor Peterson".
And there's a price to be paid by any academic who releases the secrets of the elite Academy.
