On the day that Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed as a judge on the highest court in the land, this new film is as appropriate a choice as any for our Saturday movie date: it was America's abortion absolutism that drove both the fanatical opposition to Justice Kavanaugh's nomination and the media blackout on the case of Dr Kermit Gosnell, and their opposition to anyone telling his story. Gosnell opens in movie theaters this coming Friday, but a few days ago The Mark Steyn Club Cruise hosted a special screening with filmmakers Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer as we sailed through the Gulf of St Lawrence. The audience was profoundly moved. One lady, having worked in a very famous West Coast medical facility, said that Dr Kermit Gosnell's preferred method of "abortion" - live births - was common there too, and that we were all "complicit". Another viewer focused on his own profession of anesthetist, and teared up as he recalled the untrained fifteen-year-old who functioned as Gosnell's and used a handmade color-coded chart to remember what to give whom. In fact, unlike the older women with whom she worked, the teenager had at least some semblance of sympathy for the patients, a rare sighting of human feeling in a building from which it had otherwise fled.
Dr Gosnell is almost certainly America's all-time champion serial killer. Some of us wrote about that way back when:
This is a remarkable moment in American life: A man is killing actual living, gurgling, bouncing babies on an industrial scale - and it barely makes the papers.

Steyn might not be as sinister as me [my evil cape is much longer], but does anyone have a Steyn ping list?
It is rather stunning that the murder of unborn children is the primary motivating force for seemingly half of the US population.
Yep, my older sister is a one issue voter - abortion rights. Something I’ve never understood, & probably never will.
There was one a long time ago, but the person who maintained it gave up. I haven’t seen them around for a while.
From what I have seen of the trailer I am not sure I have the stomach and I am a retired MD. Trust me, I spent over ten years working 100 hour weeks in hospitals on surgery teams. That never turned my stomach.
I have trouble with his home page, but I can backdoor in through his column page.

I would say more like 30%. The other 20% are duped fellow-travelers.
Michelle Malkin assured everyone it’s child friendly.
Right. Polling showed back around the end of the last millenia that when you take ‘rape’ and ‘incest’ and especially ‘life of mother’ out of it that 85% of Americans are opposed to abortion.
I believe that has been slowly growing. This movie could be the death nell for abortion-on-demand as an issue.
States are already vigorously undermining abortion.
I will hearby begin a ‘Sinister Guest Host’ ping list. It will only be weekly, very LOW volume so as not to take over anyone’s mind too quickly.
Now how diabolical is that?
I think, based on my personal observation, that abortion is not nearly as supported as is claimed. That is why the news about the serial killer abortion doctor was censored by the MSM. What he did is done everyday.
But it is the militant abortion supporters, those who will certainly never have a chance to have one, that really puzzles me. They appear to be crazed.
I try to post his columns regularly, both political & entertainment. If you’d like to keep the list, I’d be happy to ping you when I do.
Of the people that deign to vote, that’s true. But around 40% or so of eligible voters don’t care, at least enough to vote about it. That’s more than the turnout for either political party. That’s pretty stunning and depressing in its own way.
Freegards
I hope. Maybe it is just my experience that makes even me recoil in horror.
She answers: "About 30,000."
I'm gobstruck.
This, championed by the crowd who calls dibs on the "empathy trophy."
My mother had 6 children of her own and worked full time in the adoption field. We always had an unwed pregnant women sharing our home. Most of these children are grown and have reached out to my mother with heartwarming stories of their loving families. Adoption is an incredible gift.
I saw the movie. It’s not gory and very well done. The actor who plays Gosnell is amazing.
