If Manchin trades for Murkowski and Collins is a yes, we're at 51.
If Daines thinks that it's now a sure thing, and so he can go home to Montana for his daughter's wedding because it would still be 50-49, that would open up Schumer to flip someone back when it's too late for Daines to rush back and vote.
The bottom line is that Republicans cannot get complacent now and think they can coast across the finish line. Daines has to be ready to vote when the vote is called, no matter what.

My thoughts were also unpleasant. The mildest trick they might try is tackling the Flake in the elevator again. The terrorist party could easily escalate. Again. I hope none of our Senators will be mowing their lawns (like Senator Rand Paul, whose attacker only got 30 days), or playing baseball (like Congressman Steve Scalise). This is about good and evil, and the democrats have openly declared that they would rather rule in hell than serve in heaven. The odds are in our favor, but we have to be alert and prepared.
