Here is the only scenario I can think of where Democrats could still monkey up the confirmation.

If Manchin trades for Murkowski and Collins is a yes, we're at 51.

If Daines thinks that it's now a sure thing, and so he can go home to Montana for his daughter's wedding because it would still be 50-49, that would open up Schumer to flip someone back when it's too late for Daines to rush back and vote.

The bottom line is that Republicans cannot get complacent now and think they can coast across the finish line. Daines has to be ready to vote when the vote is called, no matter what.

Right you are, PJ. It's never over until it's over. And for the Dems that's not even enough. They are probably out judge shopping right now, to halt the vote, or overturn it.

Personally they should do a head fake with the Dems, make them think Daines left, but really have him sneak back somehow- just in case they do try and pull a last minute switch.
