many decades ago there was a hole in the ground that sucked a 100 ft garden hose down to who-knows-where, When the hose disappeared, the story disappeared ... we’ll never know ...

I live in Florida where sinkholes are very common.

At our last house we lived in before the one now, there was an old clothesline in the yard that hadn’t been used in decades.

I dismantled it with just one pipe left sticking up out of the ground.

I went out to dig it out, thinking it had been put in with cement at the base and hit it with my shovel.

It disappeared into the ground and I NEVER SAW IT AGAIN...............
