A lot of English don't speak as if they are from a Jane Austen period piece.

Personally, Im turned off by and avoid all things British. Effem! They are not our friends at all. I cant even stomach Austin Powers anymore because he’s a Canadian portraying a Brit.

On the other hand, chyron and closed caption writers seem to be the most ignorant produce of the public school system.

You have to balance out your Jane Austen with plenty of Charles Dickens. I just watched the 1985 BBC Oliver Twist and the Artful Dodger makes the Dr. Who actress sound like Henry Higgins.

Stars in Dr Who - “The year that most of the former audience stopped watching” Or when Dr Who jumped the shark, Jodie Was There.

Who cares any more? - back to watching the 3rd doctor - too bad many of those shows are lost or unavailable.

If this were Billy C, Teddy K or Harvey W. the translation would have been Hootersville

My two sons have seen every Dr Who episode...and told me they won’t watch a single show with the new #MeToo “doctor”

There are tons of mistakes in the closed captioning subtitles. This is NOT a big deal.

LOL! That’s funny! And normally they drop the “H”.

I lived in South and East Yorkshire (near Hull...pronounced “’ull”).

Since I’m half deaf I watch with closed captioning a lot and these types of mistakes are common.

Find a YouTube of motorcycle racer Guy Martin for a regional English accent that isn’t from a BBC Jane Austen piece.

A lot of English don't speak as if they are from a Jane Austen period piece.

I miss the days of "standard British" pronunciation, in which actors were taught to speak a clear and concise "Queen's English"if they were going to be actors or news readers. Some of the British dialects one hears on their TV shows are too unintelligible. On most American shows, people don't use such extreme dialects.
