From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

Correct. Poke or Pokeweed as you call it. Don’t eat the berries or the mature plant or root.
Ok. I’m not familiar with poke weed.

Indeed. Serious yard work is impossible in blazing heat. :-)
Better weather here in Virginia. Many fall tomatoes in varying stages of ripening. My one and only marigold plant has surprised me. After producing only one glorious flower, there are many buds and a new flower bloomed this afternoon!
Looks like it’s dangerous to animals and humans; OK for birds.
Thought I’d let it grow to put roots in the garden. It’s now going to the yard waste recycling bags ASAP.
The order has been given. Stand clear. LOL
(apparently it’s been known to ride along in seed packets) - there were two or three different kinds of seed packets stuff down there - not surprised)
I make a hot sauce using peaches and peach ghost peppers that I call Peachy Peach. Hot, sweet and delicious.

Agreed about fast food and power outages.
Now I need to get a dehydrator and start dehydrating food too.
I should have started canning years ago. For some reason I feel like I’m being pulled firmly over to these arts that have all but been lost in the modern age. I have always been drawn to these things but I feel like it’s important to know how to do them NOW.
I made soap last month and I’m very pleased with it.
I would like to drip my own lye someday.
I feel like it’s critical to get in a position where I’m not so dependent on others to get what I need. Doing supplements for example and cleaner eating so someday I don’t have to beg the doctor for medicine.
Need to score some fish mox or something soon.
I’m doing vitamins and several thyroid support supplements.
The borax and diatomaceous earth(boron and silica)are helping along with iodine, selenium, primrose oil and serrapeptase.
I have oral lichen planus and just discovered how great aloe vera is for it so I’ll have to start growing it. Cheaper than kenalog paste and much more effective at soothing my mouth.
Will be interesting to see if more goji berries invade the elderberries or more elderberries invade the gogi berries. They are in a largish area with thick wood-chip mulch.
I was tempted to add some jalapeno juice. Maybe next year.
We’ve got it here in Michigan and kill it whenever we find it.
If anyone remembers JRandomFreeper (RIP) he used to make orange marmalade with jalapenos. It sounded delicious.
Can’t complain about the garden production, since it was almost totally neglected during July & August, and almost half of September, to the point of not even watering for about 6 weeks. Didn’t even hill the potatoes. It’s amazing we got anything from it.
Between working, taking over spousal duties, plus aiding her own care, visitors from Europe, and visiting her during two hospital stays, the garden & firewood cutting went out the window.
Oh, yeah; also had to put the tiller in the shop for about a month, too.
I believe that man grew just about everything.
They are yanked up and outta there!
