Because she delayed the hearing saying she was afraid to fly and couldnt get to DC by this padt Mon, the original hearing date. It gave the dems mire time to produce other accusers and trash Kav.
All they're trying to do -- the only thing they're trying to accoumplish -- is to give Collins, Murkowski, Flake, et al. any shred of a reason to not confirm this decent man.
That is, even if the FBI finds no crediblity to Ford's charges, the mere fact that this "supplemental investigation" is so limited will be reason for the Democrat/Left to scream that it is not a "real investigation" which may just be enough for even more delays up to the election. I calculate that although the Democrat/Left has no more than a 30 percent chance of pulling this off, it's a real possibility they could.
I think the most effective thing the GOP can do over the next six days is for Republican senators and President Trump to pound on their "weak sisters" even harder than what the Democrat/Left will is, without any doubt, already doing. Although Flake may be a lost cause because of his hatred of President Trump and that he is quitting, the others may be more receptive to not ruining a good man's name and his family because of their differences with the President.
My point is that this must happen now ... not after the FBI issues what is likely to be a clearly inconclusive report (i.e., "we didn't find anything, but that's because we weren't given enough time to find anything").
No prob. otoh. On The Other Hand... and IMHO In My Humble Opinion. this whole Kavanaugh thing makes me SMH.

The vote is meant to indicate a consensus will pointing our elected agents toward actions to take. The vote by ballot is nearly useless at this point, without benefit of public action to back that ballot.
Politics is war by other means than shooting the opponent. We are at war whether admitted or not. Hot war will be the last option if our political forces continue to play word games rather than play hardball. This war will not be decided by taking a vote.
They’ve gotten this far, with much success. This is all about delaying the vote, delay Kavanaugh making it onto the court, and they sure as hell are getting away with it, right before our disbelieving eyes.
