Clemson senior quarterback Kelly Bryant says he is transferring from the school, just days after coach Dabo Swinney announced that freshman Trevor Lawrence would be the starting quarterback for Saturday's game against Syracuse.
Bryant started the first four games of the season, but his fate was sealed when Lawrence threw four touchdowns Saturday a win against Georgia Tech. He did not practice the last two days after Lawrence was giving the starting nod.

I’m curious to follow Trevor Lawrence’s career. He was part of the Elite-11 program. Almost 80% of NFL QBs were made the Elite 11.
Its the Selfish Generation.... ALL ABOUT ME. No concept of team at all.

I’m tempted to call you a moron, but that would assume you really understand the “team” concept in college sports.
Kelly’s Bryants statement says it all. His teammates are pissed, by the way. Dabo cut himself a notch with that move.

Have a nephew who was recruited by Harvard and several other ivy league universities to play hockey but was not guaranteed a starting job so he turned them down and went to Williams College in Massachusettes instead. He started all four years and got a great education and loved it there.......
But then again, his career goal was somewhere in the medical field, not to play in the NHL.........
Yup, I think he's staying too. We're waiting to see if he plays in the game Saturday, if he does, he's ineligible for a playing transfer.
Anyone question Saban's decision? (Tua's on fire)
Roll Tide
I asked his mom what she learned going through this after it had all played out and she replied to you cant always believe what what people tell you.
She is the most even-keeled person I know, content to live simply and not showy, and doesnt seek glory or pride through her kids. They didnt make a big stink about it we know because we are close to them. Saban wouldnt play him and made it extremely difficult for him to play for a different school. You can call BS, but we know this particular situation well.
This is why college football is a corrupt sewer of a sport. The notion that someone can tell you can’t leave and play for someone else is borderline criminal.
Yeah, Joe Flacco should have just shut up and backed up Tyler Palco at Pitt.
Cam Newton wishes he made as much with the Jaguars as he did with Auburn. :)
Ill take your word for it, since you seem to have a tight grasp on football facts.
I would not be so hard on him.
Football is a lot of work. All of the training, conditioning, practices, etc. It’s an awful lot to put yourself through if you don’t at least look forward to the fun of getting into an actual game.
I know of particular situations myself. Saban does not promise playing time to anyone. This is a well known fact.
I understand that he was part of a team that has a realistic chance of winning a CFP Championship... and, there’s a decent chance he’d be the QB in the title game.
Why leave that?
Why not stay, and contribute? I suspect Dabo would still have played Bryant a series or two... to keep him sharp, if needed.
No way I’d be leaving Clemson.. for any place. Not this year. Not this way.
Pretty different circumstance there. Flacco left early in his career... not at the end. And, not leaving a team that's a lock to play in the Final Four.
As a Tiger fan and big time donor thru paid kids tuition, this aint high school, team rah rah, this is about future NFL for last season Bryant, he did the right thing by leaving, Dabo should have handled it better.
There are a LOT MORE than 22 players on college teams. MOST of them don't do much playing on Saturday.... unless the game is decided.
I think Bryant would have still played... at least some. He just wasn't going to start.
I just hate that Bryant made this decision so quickly. Seems emotional, and not well thought out. Being part of a Championship TEAM is a BFD (to quote Joe Biden). He can go and start for Arkansas... get the crap beat out of him every week. Will that make him happy? Will he be thrilled about that move in 50 years? I doubt it.
Coaches get to decide which QB they think gives the team the best chance to win. That's their job. Maybe Dabo was right? Maybe not. Maybe he changes his mind in a few weeks. Maybe Lawrence regresses after a few weeks of taking hits?
I just hate to see a player QUIT on his team because things aren't going his way. That's a player who wasn't very invested in the "team".
I've got some bad news for Kelly Bryant. The NFL is not going to be all that interested.
Maybe he feels the team quit on him. He’s auditioning for an NFL job. He can’t do that sitting on the bench.
He may feel that way, but thats not what happened.
I just think hes going to regret the move down the road.

You never cease in making a complete fool of yourself, do you?
BTW, you must have Alabama confused with Auburn (and Oklahoma probably).
Why are you even on this site? Let’s not forget that you were an avid Never Trumper during the election and still occasionally come back to troll and make your juvenile remarks.
Go back under your bridge, troll.
