What happens if all the Democrats just vote present when it comes to confirming Kavanaugh?

Posted on 09/25/2018 6:53:48 PM PDT by Jonty30

Do their votes get counted or is just the yea/nay votes that count?

Maybe not. Several red state Dems are wavering.

What if during the time CBF used for stalling that her coaching team come up with last minute some kind of details of when and where (for example), coordinated with the willing press, during her testimony (yes under oath)?

Then Dems and media will cry that they need more time to ‘investigate’, and it is impossible for Grassley to proceed with the scheduled vote on Friday?

"Unless he "grows in Office" as some previously conservative Justices have done. "

I don't think after all of this, that will even be a possibility.

"They are anxiously waiting to vote no. Each and every one!"

They've probably been standing in front of a mirror practicing it since he was nominated.

Except of course, that that is not at all true.
The abortion activists would rebel. And at this point in history, they might rebel alone.

What the idiots leading up to the 2016 primaries and the elections after have tried desperately to deny both to the public (unsuccessfully) and to themselves (with moderate success) is that within the voting populace the most critical issue by far is immigration. Between that issue coupled with jobs, the second amendment and foreign wars ...abortion is way down on the totem pole of things that the court has been meddling in.

Only the extreme end of stupid on the conservative side is allowing Roe versus Wade to dominate supreme court pick discussion.

The corporate press is ignoring more significant issues as desperately as they can, but that only works in locals where competent conservatives withdraw from the discussion, leaving unthinking babblers to wag on about abortion.

They plan to impeach Kavanaugh, when they have enough votes. The vote (re. “asterisk”) would a protest move in that direction, if some of them vote that way.

Ah, here it is...
https://www.everycrsreport.com/reports/RL31980.html#_Toc479757212
“Although very few nominations proceed without the support of a committee, chamber rules make it possible for the full Senate to consider a nomination a committee does not report. Technically, Senate Rule XVII permits any Senator to submit a motion or resolution that a committee be discharged from the consideration of a subject referred to it. A motion to discharge a committee from the consideration of a nomination is, like all business concerning nominations, in order only in executive session.20 If there is an objection to the motion to discharge, it must lie over until the next executive session on another day. It is fairly common for committees to be discharged from noncontroversial nominations by unanimous consent, with the support of the committee, as a means of simplifying the process. It is far less common for Senators to attempt to discharge a committee from a nomination by motion or resolution.21”

And we will continue to pray.

God is bigger than the dems and their dirty tricks.

2016 proved that.

I would LOVE for some dems to break rank and vote the right thing.
