So many golden ages, so much brilliance from which to choose. In culling from the "60 Greatest" lists we've compiled during our 60th-anniversary year, we shook things up, blending drama, comedy and other genres to salute the shows with the biggest cultural impact and most enduring influence.

As others have said, some very strange choices, there.
There’s no way “The Honeymooners” should be the first thing on anyone’s mind if they’re compiling a “best of” TV list.
The absence of “The Dick Van Dyke Show” is weird, too - especially considering the “Mary Tyler Moore Show” made the cut.
And, whatever you think of it, “Star Trek” deserves to be on there, too. I mean - talk about an icon! They based the look of cell phones on the communicators, “beam me up, Scotty” and “he’s dead, Jim” have become an immortal catch phrases, and there are actually places that teach Klingon. Is the show stupid and preachy and dumb? Yep - but I don’t know how much more a show has to do to get on the list.
You can tell it’s not my list. Neither one of the Newhart shows, WKRP in Cincinnati, Frazier, Bullwinkle. Without those the list seems incomplete.
“Theres no way The Honeymooners should be the first thing on anyones mind if theyre compiling a best of TV list.”
Don’t you hate it when you end up saying the exact opposite of what you mean?
Of course, I meant there’s no way “The Honeymooners” should NOT be the first thing on anyone’s mind! :-)
I’ve never been able to make it through on episode of “The Sopranos”.
> Ive never been able to make it through on episode of The Sopranos. <
Same with me. I suppose it’s deserving of some recognition due to its production values. But watching it is like watching a show about successful SS camp guards.
Ren & Stimpy
Northern Exposure
Impossible to rank these things...as the rankings are based on the subjective perceptions and remembrances of the rankers . What is interesting is the effect these shows have on the mindset of an entertainment based society...and how we can make decisions and make up life narratives based on the ideas and concepts presented.
Seinfeld is wayyy overrated. It was funny about half the time, borderline unwatchable the other half. IMHO
Never go Against the Family.
Actually, the Dick Van Dyke Show IS on the list, as it should be. Mary Tyler Moore should not.
Written by some 45 year old kid.
Northern Exposure,,
The character ‘Adam” is fascinating.
It’s there...and it should be.
How about:
Hogans Heroes
Munsters
Addams Family
Gunsmoke
Have Gun Will Travel
Benny Hill
Bonanza
I dream of Jeannie
Bob Newhart Show
Dean Martin Roast and Show>
Etc
Call me old fashioned.
“If it doesn’t have “Bonanza” in the top five, it ain’t a real list.”
Back in cave times when I was in college, all the dorm guys would gather every Sunday night to watch Bonanza on a black and white community TV.
The characters on Breaking Bad were well cast. Tuco and Hector Salamanca were my favorites. later scenes where Hector answers questions with the bell on his wheelchair really added suspense to the story.
I Love Lucy could not be made in todays times.
I do love I Love Lucy but its pretty historical at this point.
Not agreed.
The Sopranos is best series I've ever seen.
Also how is the Sopranos at number 1 liberal?
That is SUCH a good episode!
list without "Justified" is bogus...
as it turns out, "Lost" was a complete waste of time...
Try and do the Dean Martin Roast today...with Sammy Davis, Nipsy Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, etc on the dais!
