Terry from Wisconsin came to Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary in Green Bay, Wisconsin six months ago, and he just kept coming back.
When he returned, he didn't come empty-handed.

He brought his very own trusty brush so he could help groom the feline residents there, but little did he know that his regularly visits quickly became an adorable fixture at the sanctuary.
When Terry heard about the cage-free, no-kill cat shelter, which specializes in rescuing kitties with physical or psychological disabilities, he wanted to do something for the residents there.
"Terry just came along one day and introduced himself. He said he'd like to brush cats. Eventually it became everyday," Elizabeth Feldhausen, founder of Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary, told Love Meow.

Terry loves animals and naps. He doesn't have any pets of his own, but every time he comes to the sanctuary, he has this charm about him that calms even the most nervous cat.
"He brushes all of the cats, and can tell you about all of their likes and dislikes. He also accidentally falls asleep most days," Elizabeth added.
"We don't mind cats need this."

"Terry ended up becoming a volunteer because he was just around all the time! He'd show up with his own brush, and brush cats," Elizabeth said. "After he got to know all of the cats and their needs, he began asking to help out more."
He became the shelter's official volunteer and has never missed a day helping out at the sanctuary.

"When he comes in he usually takes turns brushing all the cats with his special brush, and will give them all a treat or two. He falls asleep while sitting with the cats quite a bit, and then he'll wake up and keep on brushing," Elizabeth told Love Meow.
"Terry's most recent favorite cat is Buckhorn."
He spends a lot of time with Buckhorn, who is very anxious and will hide under the couch or desk. He and his best friend Shane get passed up a lot, because nobody even knows they're there.

Terry sits with the tabby cat on the couch, brushing him and falling asleep together with him. He makes sure that every animal at the rescue feels loved, and no one is left out on their own.
When the sanctuary shared photos of Terry napping with his feline friends, the internet fell in love with him.

Some wrote poems about him and even started calling him the Cat Grandpa.
"I fall asleep a lot, but I never felt that this was going to happen," Terry said. "Cat Grandpa is a good name."

Oh yes! Cats can make one fall asleep in a heart-beat. Napped with our pets for years. For some reason brushing a cat or having them rest with one on a sofa makes everyone sleepy, even the cats.
What’s “NOT RIGHT” about something a retiree’s found that hurts nobody, brings himself some meaning, peace, and happiness, and helps others?

Most cats are more decent, honorable, faithful, truthful, and - yes - moral, than are most humans.
Ping.
Love it.
I like happy good news.
Thank you.
I miss my cats, they are all gone now. (sniff...)
Awwwww...
Cat Grandpa!
So sweet!
Thanks vannrox!
PING to some fellow kitteh ladies!
Pic #2 looks so much like my kitty Tigermaus!
His coat is much heavier than that kittehs is,
but the resemblance otherwise is remarkable!
We were going through old family albums with my mom as she was dying, asking her about all the stuff.
One was of her getting all cuddly with a cat back when she was twenty-something.
“Gee mom - I don’t think I’ve ever seen you with a pet before! I didn’t know you liked cats.”
“Oh - I like kittens. I can’t stand cats!”
She wasn’t a dog person either, as a child she was bit in the face by a German Shepard - the small-town doctor was called and he stiched her up on their kitchen table. Our 80-pound mutt took a real affection to her. Surprisingly my mom loved that dog!
Awwwww is right!
The kittehs are lucky he shows up to give them lovin’ and he’s lucky to have found something to do with his time that makes him happy. A win-win for all.
Oh, my goodness! What lucky kitties! I sure wish we had a shelter like that here. I have 5 strays that need one-on-one love!
I think no-kill shelters are becoming more prevalent all the time. I hope so. We help to support one in California — Cat House On The Kings — and the owner is a saint. I’m hearing about these places more and more often. I wish we could do more.
You have to be able to get hands on your lil kittehs first. LOL!
It would be nice to find someone like him to come here once in a while. With our “herd” of 39, it’s not easy to make a lot of time for each one of them every day. They don’t care much for Hubby so it’s up to me to dole out the lovin’.
I know all about that one....from a FEllow FReeper who is also a FB friend. LOL! I even watch their kitten cam.
We have a few here, and I contacted some of them to please take the kittens who have adopted me because their mama liked our back yard. We’re having an oil boom here and there are so many abandoned animals that they have no room. I can’t bring myself to take them to the pound. :(
True dat. Although, Stubbs seems to want to become my little buddy. He’s very lovable.
OH! And I scritched Ghost several seconds the other evening and he never looked up or flinched. I feel so proud! :)
Maybe Stubbs is Churchill reincarnated. LOL! He looks so much like him, it almost hurts to see pix of him. Same sweet face. If he turns out to be as lovable as Church, you won’t want to get rid of him. :-)
Yep, Ghost has figured out it’s nice to be scritched. I still have a feeling he’s going to turn into a mush bucket before it’s over with, like our three feral fellers did once they found out how nice it is to get that lovin’.
Could very well be your Churchill come back. With a shorter tail. LOL! He and Grey are the only ones who I’ve heard purr when I pet them.
I have GOT to go. I’m still on Mountain time and it’s later than I thought. Tomorrow might just BE head-bonking day. LOL!
See ya tomorrow!
Maybe the other kittens have really soft purrs that you can’t hear unless you put your ear against their body. Jade is one of those. I only know she’s purring by feeling her body vibrate, and can barely hear it even with my ear against her.
And then there was Cleo who we could hear from across the room. She had a heck of a motor!
Oooooooh, no head bonking in church! Don’t need that kind of embarrassment! LOL!
Sleep well.
“I even watch their kitten cam.”
We love the cam! It’s so nice to know they’ll not be euthanized and will have a nice life. I just sent a hand-quilted quilt to the place for their auction in November.
