Mayor de Blasio and new Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza on Thursday approved a controversial plan to scrap admissions standards in one of the citys top districts as part of their crusade to diversify student bodies.
Effective immediately, the 11 middle schools in Brooklyns District 15 which spans Park Slope into Sunset Park must ditch education-based entrance criteria for a weighted lottery system that reserves roughly half of their seats for kids who are low income, homeless or learning English.

Soon, they will make it against the law to expel any minority students without the approval of the superintendent. I kid you not, that is the law in Minneapolis.
Has the left’s war on education ever been more blatant?
These people have to be taken down. Not for the next four or eight years, but permanently.
The left must never have a voice in anything.
“Maybe but Rats have been getting 80-90% of the oriental vote yet they are supposed to be the smartest.”
Many Asians seethe over the supposed racism of whites.
Let the elite Park Slope liberals in their million dollar brownstones practice what they preach..... diversity. LOL
“And of course the classroom teachers are blamed.”
University education departments are pitiful. As one might expect, my children’s teachers are intellectual pygmies.
I should have kept a log of falsehoods my kids have been taught. My daughter recently brought home a handout asserting that English is a Romance language.
She is the only one in her science class who can actually utter the words “deoxyribonucleic acid” when asked what the acronym “DNA” stands for.
It is regrettable that I am not able to home school. I try to compensate both by supplementing the curriculum and contradicting great swaths of it.
“Those schools are in libtard areas, as most of the wealthier white areas are. The article quotes a couple of the school parents, saying “maybe it’s not such a bad idea” and other completely naive libtard blathering. Just wait til Tyrone presses their daughter against a hall wall and proceeds to grind against her, and she begins to talk “ghetto” at home. Wait until Anthony is robbed by Juan and Jesus, then beaten up. Let’s see what these fine upstanding white parents say then.”
this is EXACTLY what’s going to happen ... it happened to the two sons of one of my best friends in Charlotte ... they came home speaking ebonics ... just like their “English” teacher ... they yanked them out of the public schools and paid for private education ... one whet on to West Point and the other is a successful artist ... i.e., he actually makes a living doing it ...
> University education departments are pitiful. <
Agreed. And people with PhD’s in education are worse than useless. They are actually counterproductive.
But there’s an easy solution. Simply eliminate all education departments. You want to teach, say, math? Get a degree in math, then student teach with a master teacher.
As I noted earlier, I taught for many years in an urban high school. About half the teachers there - including me - had real degrees, not education degrees.
Couldn’t agree more.
Anyone think the Mayor’s kids or grand kids go to public NYC schools?
Or move to a new district.
Dumb assio belongs at the point of a bayonet.
Wanna bet?
When their kid comes home with two black eyes and a broken nose.....................
Final nail for NYC?
When will the remaining decent citizens living in NYC make it stop???
Will these new B’lynn guidelines apply to Basis Charter schools?...

If not, why not.
I know that many well to do families, in Manhattan, send their kids to Basis.....why not require diversity for this institution, as well? Not everyone can afford the tuition and that’s just not fair!! /s
So true,alas.
