A Texas father-son duo are charged with murder after a dispute with a neighbor over a mattress turned deadly, shocking video shot by the deceased mans wife appears to show. Warning Graphic Footage: Viewer discretion strongly advised
In video of the Sept. 1 incident released Wednesday, Kara Box captured her husband Aaron Howard arguing over trash in their Abilene alleyway with next-door neighbors John Miller, 67, and his son Michael Miller, 31. We had thrown out a twin mattress in a dumpster in our alley a few days before the shooting, Box commented on the video, according to The Star-Telegram. You have to have the mattress in the dumpster or they will not haul it away.
Box says the Millers grabbed the mattress out of the dumpster and threw it on Howards property, sparking a shouting match between the neighbors. Michael Miller who lives with his father ran went inside their home and got a shotgun, The Telegram wrote in a Sept. 2 article following the incident. Someone went into Howards home and retrieved a baseball bat. The showdown ended with Howard shot after he stepped forward following a threat from Miller, who warned, If you come within 3 feet of me, Im going to kill you. The Millers were arrested later that day. The Telegram reports they have since posted a $25,000 bail.
That would have been much more helpful, I couldn’t believe that part. I thought it looked like dumba$$ day all around.
A book called "Silent Spring" about DDT supposedly destroying bird eggs or something, unleashed a massive series of public complaints, and so it was banned by administrative rule or something.
Same sort of astroturfed public protests we are seeing nowadays.
All three were armed with deadly weapons. Mr. Orange Shirt threatened to kill the father and son and when he advanced towards them, he was shot and killed. $25,000 bail is what one may see for assault with a deadly weapon but is incredibly low for the charge of murder.
Here’s an article that gives more info:

That said, White trash on both sides.
Not really.
You need to read a history or geography book.

Sorry. I meant to respond to Kaehurowing, not you.
Interesting. I watched with the sound off. I was simply looking at the body language.
The problem I see from viewing it with the sound off is that the son escalated it (from a viewing without sound. I am going to go back and view it with sound afterwards)
It has always been my opinion that when you have a firearm, it is your job, unless you are being actively attacked, to de-escalate a situation or remove yourself from it if you can’t de-escalate it. Last thing you want to do is escalate a situation to a point where you have to shoot someone when your life wasn’t in danger, or you have provoked someone to the point you have to shoot them.
I had an incident at a Sarah Palin rally back in 2008 where I had a leftist getting right up in my face, and because I was carrying...I couldn’t allow myself the luxury of escalating it and ending up in a fight.
That isn’t an easy thing to do, especially with someone who is pretty obnoxious and literally in you face. And he had a bunch of people with him recording, they were obviously trying to goad me into something. It was indeed hard to keep my cool.
I found out later, watching one of the Veritas videos, that this is a tactic the Left uses.
I imagine you are right for a subset of people, but I don’t think all. I watched it, and it certainly wasn’t for entertainment value.
I think there is serious educational value in it, and it fosters discussion. It is better to have at least given some thought to finding oneself in a situation, rather than being there and having never even thought it through.
Granted, it may not help, emotions are powerful eradicators of reason.
Holy cow. I worked with John Miller and his brother James many years ago at Hack Drilling Co. in Abilene. I can attest that you do not want to be on their bad side.
Trust me, everywhere with people in it is screwed up. The US far less than most. In Haiti the popular trick is stuff a used tire over your neighbor and light it on fire to watch them burn.
It called necklacing...
No. They should have walked away. The weapons are for protection, not to get the upper hand in a stand off - for the very reason of what happened in this instance.
If you are carrying as a CCW holder or otherwise, you do not seek out conflict. To the contrary, you avoid it knowing that if you need to - and only if you need to - you have protection with your weapon.
They deserve to go to jail for a long, long time.
Yes, all parties involved should have behaved more like grown-ups than children.
While they deserve to go to jail for a long time, I’m not going to shed a tear for the deceased who by reports I read was a violent person with an extensive criminal record. And what you say about the guys armed with guns who should have walked away, the same holds true for the deceased who himself was armed with a deadly weapon and should have backed down and walked away.
I believe you are asserting rules that dont necessarily apply here. Being armed in a place you have every right to be, giving fair warning, and not withdrawing is NOT provoking, nor inciting.
You seem to believe an armed CCW permit holder is obligated to use every means available to preserve the life of an assailant, and that standard is by no means universal, nor desirable.
I disagree. I am becoming more and more persuaded Mr. Howard was an ongoing problem local law enforcement refused to deal with effectively.
For good or ill, Mr. Miller solved that problem.
Further note that while the younger Miller responded somewhat in kind to Howards provocations, the calm and rational senior Miller STILL was the subject of Howards attack. Curious, no?
Amen.
That is not what I said.
The guy that got shot and killed should have walked away for sure, I’ll go with that.
Really?
Are we going to waste bandwidth doing the quote dance?
Tell me how my summation differs markedly from the position you've outlined, if not specifically enumerated.
