The woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault came forward with her explosive allegations on Sunday, saying the supposed attack "derailed me substantially for four or five years" and claiming that the episode rendered her "unable to have healthy relationships with men."
The woman, Christine Ford, is a professor at Palo Alto University, according to The Washington Post, which published her account on Sunday. Her decision to go public caps a whirlwhind week that began when Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., sent shockwaves through Washington by releasing a statement saying she turned over information about Kavanaugh from an anonymous accuser to the FBI.
Ford, a 51-year-old registered Democrat who has published in academic journals and trains students in clinical psychology, described the alleged incident on Sunday, saying it occurred at a Maryland house gathering. Ford claimed she headed upstairs to a bathroom when she was suddenly pushed onto a bed, as rock-and-roll music blared.

Now that she is no longer anonymous, has supporting docs from 2012, and passed a lie detector test, most people will believe that something happened. There was a party, Kavanaugh was there, they were drunk. Anything more than that, deny the details, deny the relevance. If you deny the entire thing, one other witness saying Kavanaugh was at the party will kill the nomination.

The fact Feinstein never brought it up in the confirmation hearings, suggests that she thought it wasn’t credible enough to pursue.

Can't. Mandatory delay till the 20th. This is the time that Mitch McConnell -- who has been really good on judges -- needs to show his mettle.
He needs to caucus with each female Republican Senator and raise the following points:
1) How do we know it even happened?
2) How do we even know Kavanaugh was at that party?
3) Does this lady -- a registered Democrat who has contributed to the DNC and Bernie Sanders -- have a vested interest in lying?
4) Why didn't she raise this before the year 2012, especially when Kavanaugh was getting Federal judgeships?
What if the facts aren't on Kavanaugh's side? I'm saying, even if this happened, he should be confirmed. If you allow the other side to make the argument that if it happened, he shouldn't be confirmed, he is in trouble because it just takes 1 or 2 Senators to believe her, or to believe it is politically in their interest to believe her.
My bet is that guy who did that to you stayed a real a-hole. And I’d not fault you for telling that story if Trump nominated him for the SC, because that is a violent character flaw. This simply isn’t credible for an event that she says derailed her life for several years.
She would know exactly where and when it occurred. (She says she only had one beer, that the two boys were drunk but she was not.)
On the other hand, if it was some event that only much later she embellished and promoted into some meaningful event that she grabbed onto as an excuse to explain some failings in life on her part, then it would make sense that she doesn’t know the details such as when or where it occurred.
What she knows is the emotion that she feels now, perhaps even needs to feel for present purposes, and searching the past for a basis for this feeling has identified this hazy incident as a justification for the present emotion.
