This undated photo provided by Craig Foster in September 2018 shows a drawing made with ochre pigment on silcrete stone, found in the Blombos Cave east of Cape Town, South Africa.
In a report released on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, scientists say this tiny 73,000-year-old sketch found in a South African cave is the oldest known drawing.

Strange, I found this 16-plus-year-old article basically claiming the same thing...
Oldest prehistoric art unearthed
BBC NEWS - 10 January, 2002

By BBC News Online science editor Dr David Whitehouse
The worlds oldest example of abstract art, dating back more than 70,000 years, has been found in a cave in South Africa.
Scientists say the discovery shows that modern ways of thinking developed far earlier than we think.
The abstract art was found on two pieces of ochre in a cave on the southern Cape shore of the Indian Ocean.Previously, the earliest evidence of abstract art came mainly in France from the Eurasian Palaeolithic period less than 35,000 years ago.

After careful analysis the drawing faintly depicts a prehistoric man drawing on the wall in a cave.

I’ve always said the cave pics of animals were not made by men, but women!
They are not celebrations of great hunts or aids to storytelling.
They are ‘shopping lists’..................

Actually, he was an Air Force TI for years, and when he got out and started doing his painting, he did the “afro” as a trademark, it’s on all the art supplies he sells.
However, in later years, he grew to hate the hairdo, but his brand was established with it, so he couldn’t change it back.
Before that, he had short, light colored hair, and was a pretty good looking guy.
Of course, he’s dead now, so it doesn’t really matter.

I double-click. It’s just a reflex or habit.
I have to really slow down and concentrate to not do it. And that doesn’t happen often.
