I recall the same hysteria over Dobermans and German Shepard Dogs in the 70s. Pits are very popular in a post 9/11 America. There is just more of the breed these days. Pure hysteria.

"In the 13-year period of 2005 through 2017, canines killed 433 Americans. Pit bulls contributed to 66% (284) of these deaths."
