Thanks.
After I posted that, it just did not sound right. Guess my old teachers did better than I imagined.
“(I lost my virginity there but that’s a story that I’m not ready to tell)”
Yes, but how did he feel about it?
He is Irish actually and was (he passed in the mid '90s) awesome!!
He was the opening act in 1971 or '72 at a concert headlined by Edgar Winter and White Trash. Gallagher stole the show. Much to his credit Winter brought Gallagher back on stage for the encore.................great show!
Gallagher is well worth looking into if you still enjoy that style of hard guitar.
“If I was a woman Id be down at the dock waiting for the fleet to come in.”
If you were a woman and waiting at the dock, the fleet would never make landfall.
I figured from the two posts that your subconscious got it right, but then you started overthinking it.
PS: Condolences on being stationed in El Centro!
Thanks, never heard of Danny Gatton but I had many Roy Buchanan albums back in the early to mid 1970’s. I still have all of Rory’s albums.
and one of the Brits produced a tape of Rory Gallagher, who I take it, was their answer to Thorogood.
Rory was a hell of a guitar player. But he was Irish.

The British have a Navy?
What’s a bloke to do? Beat the crap out of each other first chance....
There is a rumor that 50% of all those guys who lost their virginity in El Centro did so in the stock yards...{:-)
Kipling wrote it about British soldiers, but it still applies...
“An’ if sometimes our conduck isn’t all your fancy paints,
Why, single men in barricks don’t grow into plaster saints”
“The only traditions of the Royal Navy are rum, sodomy and the lash” - Winston Churchill
You really to get that worked out witb a head shrink.
What, America has the concession on drunken sailors?
I recall seeing Brit sailors throwing beer kegs through bar windows in Toulon back in 86 - they were basically rioting..
Guess that's where that Navy meme comes into play; "Any port in a storm"...
I forget what year (’74 or ‘75) it was in Oahu but there were 3 Carriers all docked, the EM Club was Packed, the Platters were the Entertainment (at First)
One Australian Sailor stood up Downed his Drink and exclaimed “The Queen is a Bloody Whore” and slammed his glass upside down on the table... Next thing I know tables and chairs glasses and bottles are flying everywhere... Americans may not have gotten into the Scrap right away but it was everyone punching everyone within seconds.
I carried one Australian out that had a broken leg and put him on a Gurney and went back in and was doing First Aid on a guy that had a broken glass stuck in his face and what do I see? The Australian with a broken leg climbing over a wall to get back in the Fight.
It was awesome to watch as a teenager as my Father had described a few of these incidents that he had participated in and he had described the Brits and Aussies and the Americans exactly as it went down... I wrote Dad a long letter with details and he told me “That is why you put a roll of dimes in your neckerchief”
PS I carried the broke leg Aussie back out again and this time he was transported before he could escape to return to the fight, Shore Patrol then grabbed me stuck me in a Van hauled me away at the same time. I actually just walked away during processing and never got in any trouble.
